It says on average it is $5 per 1000. That means that we could reach the entire population of America for 30 seconds for 1.5mil. (someone check my math)

I think we should be looking at TV spots soon. The more people who know Ron Paul is out there, the more people will start to follow him in the coming months, and then of course we know they will all vote for him. ;)

Perhaps we can use our meetup groups to raise the money, make the video that is specific to the area and then get it on the air. Of course, we need to get them approved by the campaign manager.

You know I thought about that but maybe we should send the funds to Ron Paul and let him put the commercials out. I wouldn't want to broadcast anything that hadn't previously been viewed and approved of by him. Great idea though.

Late night cable ads are cheap. He could get an infomercial played for less than a single prime time ad on a major network, and if the ad stirs up any news controversy, then thats just more free press.
Definitely get some ads on the air, but think quantity and cheap and don't blow the whole wad on prime time and don't waste ad money on news networks.

I agree. All funds should straight to Ron Paul and let RP and his team sort it out.

I think this would be more in line for someone who has already donated as much as he can possibly donate to Ron Paul's campaign and still wants to contribute.

Claudiom,

Below you will find the results of my research regarding TV ad rates.

“Local TV: A 30-second television commercial on a local station in a
top 10 market ranges from $4,000, generally during a movie, to $45,000
for time on one of the highest-rated shows.

Network TV: A 30-second spot in prime time ranges from $80,000 to
$600,000, depending on how high a show is rated and the show's genre.
The average is $120,000 to $140,000.

Cable TV: A 30-second spot in prime time runs between $5,000 and
$8,000, depending on the network.”

When dealing with sums of money this large, it generally is better to let the "official" campaign deal with it just so that everything is done in the clear. It seems like the more money one starts throwing around, the more regulations are involved, and the last thing any of us wants is not only bad press but personal liability. If someone has donated all they can to the campaign and wants to give more, there are lots of ideas out there that could use financial backing. Heck, I could personally run some good stuff with tons of financial backing, but honestly I would never ask for it because I don't generally trust others with my money and don't expect anyone to do the same of me. I'd also urge you all to be very cautious - we're on the internet, and it's full of scams and cons.
