My thought is, Ron needs to step up to a great degree. He can't be that sack of potatotes with the intelligent responses. He needs to come out swinging and realize this is a war for freedom.

Call out their corruptions, call out their inconsistencies etc......

YES or NO

For the Debate tonight

Absolutely!

Like on Leno the other night, RP said "one candidate" wants us to stay in Iraq for 100 years.

Come on, President Paul, lay it out. Say JOHN MCCAIN WANTS US TO STAY IN IRAQ FOR 100 YEARS!!!!!!!

That's not mudslinging, just fact.

As Alice Cooper says:

"No more Mr. Nice Guy!"

He does. This might be the time to do so. But realize that once we do this it will mean war. If he doesn't have a thoroughly satisfying complete response for the newsletters it could be a very short war. They can just yell racist, and he will get marginalized.

Only if provoked, and with authority.

Yeah that was disappointing. Probably the only part of that interview that wasn't AWESOME.

Why is he so afraid to name names? Voters are USED to that kind of shit, it's not like they're going to be turned off by him using another candidates name for the truth.

I wonder how many people saw that and wondered "who said that???"

There's no where for us to go but UP from here on out, so there's no reason to be afraid to get a little intimidating with these other candidates.

Yes. Debates are the one place where attacking is generally considered acceptable - even expected.

I'm leaning still more on the no side. I think when the field narrows even MORE, Then he should come out gunslinger style!

He needs to BLAST EVERYBODY.

Jobarra

Somebody just needs to say this to him:
"Imagine each other candidate up there as one of the past FED chairmen. ACTION!"

He has to come across as actually wanting to be President. That means showing he has the ability to take charge and control the direction of the debate. He knows he's right on the issues, he knows he speaks the truth, he knows he has the best interests of America as his sole motivation. He just needs to make sure the other candidates and the audience know it too.

I don't like either choice. He should forcefully go on offence on his issues, not attack the other candidates (except on issues). People have plenty of reasons not to vote for the other guys -- they need reasons to vote for Ron Paul.

If he does (not sure about my opinion if i think he should one way or the other yet) he has to be careful, so they don't try to spin it, and make it look like the desperation of a "fringe" candidate... (And no I do not think he is a fringe candidate)

I think passion would do him some good tonight. He's a man of sound principle, now its time for him to show his strength. I know it's there.

Not to mention, I don't particularly enjoy being called a lunatic by Hannity because I support Ron Paul. Or all the other derogatory names the media has called Dr Paul and us.

Yes, he should remain civil, but for some reason I can't fully explain, I want him to give them hell tonight! I want to stand up and say "HELL YEAH! You tell em Ron!"

He needs to absolutely obliterate them and show them for the idiots they are.

I also agree that it is much better to attack (perhaps a better word for me to use is expose) the candidates issues, records etc... than to be like 100 years McCain and attack the candidates personality etc.

Staying Mr. Nice Guy is simply no different than "Stay the Course". If Dr. Paul wants to win, he's going to have to get agressive. This isn't Sparta, it's Politics.

Yes, more offensive when the field narrowed. He will need financial support to stay in there.

QFT

I hear the objection often from people who hear him speak that he does not control interviews like other candidates. He has to start doing this...taking control. This is a leadership quality that people like to see.

He needs to expose all these fascist warmongers for what they are.

He needs to slap them down with facts from the 911 commission report and take them all to task on the economy. In nice, respectable grandfather sort of way. Don't pop a vein out or anything but don't let himself be talked over.

And if Rudy or the other guys start laughing he needs to shoot back, "So running a country is a laughing matter?" or "You find terrorism funny Rudy?"

Tear timing worked for Hillary. The news kept on playing it.

People don't really expect Ron Paul to come out charging. It has to be such that it would HAVE to make the news.

Ron Paul does not have the sizzling lines that the media likes so much. He speaks mostly like a professor. The media wants drama, that what sells.

Goldwater Conservative
01-10-2008, 03:37 PM
Yes. It's not like he has anything to lose. He shouldn't be a kid about it like the other candidates have been and he should still stick to the issues, but I want to see the Ron who in 1988 told that obnoxious frat kid he could stand to lose some weight or even the Ron who proclaimed "NO!" to Chris Wallace's suggestion that he wants to take our marching orders from al-Qaeda. He needs to proclaim that he is a conservative in the tradition of Barry Goldwater, that he stands for a strong national defense, that what we're doing now is spreading our military thin and bankrupting us. He should to portray the neocon foreign policy as having its roots in socialist theory. He must mention the significant decrease in violence Basra has had since the British left. He has to tell people that McCain is willing to let us be sitting ducks in the Middle East for another 100 or more years. Bring copies of the 9/11 Commission Report if you have to, Ron.

he needs to distinguish himself among the field of neocons and the best way to do that is to be extremely aggressive in calling the other candidates out. nobody is all that thrilled with any of the republican candidates right now and it's the perfect time to capitalize on that. he needs to come out swinging HARD

Well... after all is said and done, I think we got our wish. He was awesome last night! My personal high point was the "Electable" response!
