Two big ones were to go up today. Four smaller ones in the next few days, and a couple more still being worked out over availability problems.

It is estimated that they will be seen by 1.5 million people a day for a month!

"Ron Paulers,
The billboards are being installed. The b-board co. told me the two big ones were to be up by today. One is at I-170 n/o Woodson (left/northbound). The other is at I-70 e/o Cave Springs (right/westbound). They had a red tail hawk problem at the I-70 site and may not have it up yet. Four smaller billboards were to be up today thru Monday are located at: I-55 & Green Park (left/southbound); I-44 w/o Larkin Williams (right/eastbound); I-170 n/o Frost (right/southbound); and Page w/o Lindbergh (right/westbound). The daily traffic counts (both ways) at these locations are about 100,000-140,000-140,000-120,000-90,000-80,000, respectively.

Two other billboard locations are still being worked out due to problems with availability, sign positions or illumination. One that may have just opened up is along Manchester (west). The other probably will be either along 141 (south) or Lindbergh (south). Traffic counts there are about 40,000-40,000-35,000. That would put the total traffic count for all 8 signs at about 750,000 vehicles. With an avg. 2 persons per vehicle, that's about 1.5 million folks every day for a month. Maybe 90% are from MO and 80% are from metro-STL.

In order to get the signs at a discount price we had to except what was actually available after Christmas with their regular paying clients getting first priority. However, the b-board co. neglected to tell us that our contact was going on vacation from Dec.21-Jan.2 and that the sign scheduler also was going to be gone from Dec.22 until Jan.3. So, we didn't really know what was available to us until Jan.3. That is the main reason the last 2 signs aren't firm yet. The co. employees don't work on the weekends. So, I won't know anything else until Monday. We will have 3 days after a billboard goes up to examine it for final approval based on, e.g., adequate lighting or removable obstructions.

Just for fun, here's an example of "the worst" sign offered to us. It's located at Hanley & Laclede Station (southbound). Sounds pretty good, right? Well, the northbound side is okay, but the southbound side is only visible if you are travelling eastbound and seated at a rigthside window on an Amtrak train. LOL."
