California is one of the most important states in Ron Paul's bid for the presidency. In the campaign's own words, "California is a potential goldmine for the campaign in terms of national delegates..." The state is overwhelmingly against the war, and they are fed up with the Democrat lead Congress and their lack of initiative in ending the war.
Locally we often immediately gain people's attention when we bring up Dr. Paul's stance on ending the war. At that point people are very open to hearing more about his positions. Unfortunately, though, we are finding that name recognition is still a problem. We're not going to win over the enormous antiwar population here if they haven't even heard of Ron Paul.
Thus, members of our local meetup have decided to augment canvassing with a series of Ron Paul ads in our local newspaper. This idea was inspired largely by the success that Jefferson County IA had with a series of ads. You can read more about this at http://www.ads4ronpaul.com/
Our first ad runs on Thursday, January 10 in a newspaper with a circulation of 48,365 and an estimated readership of 110,000.

We need to quickly raise funds for further ads. Time is running short, as the deadline to register Republican is January 22 and the primary is February 5.
These ads will make it a lot easier to get conversations started while canvassing our neighborhoods. Please help us make it possible by donating a few dollars!
