Quote from Bush:
'Well, you ran one hell of a race!' "

Read this and then think about his current strategy.

(Edit)
Here are some current strategy guesses:

Once people stop being upset over coming in very close to Huckabee and Guiliani in the eyes of the public, they will realise Ron Paul isn't playing around.

He's in it to win it, and I'm sure there's nothing more delightful to Ron Paul than defeating the establishment.

He will prevail.

We have to learn from Tom Lizardo. We're in this until the end, no matter what the polls or anyone else says. We're here. The R[evoL]ution is now. Don't give up.

But Paul won the Republican nomination, and then the seat. And he did so in much the same style he's employed in his current presidential campaign. He combined a folksy manner with a savvy political strategy. His ideals inspired dedication in his supporters and staff. He drew on the support of longtime backers who shared his libertarian philosophy, while tailoring his stump speech to mainstream Republicans.

Unfortunately Tom Lizardo and the rest of the (great) 1996 crowd aren't involved with this race since the 1988 crowd is running the show (into the ground). The missing ingredient now is the strategy.

This may be the strategy:

I'd alos like to know why the 1996 team is not involved. If they can take down the Bush clan juggarnaut then they can take down the weak field we have now.

It makes no sense what so ever to exhaust all campaign funds on NH and Iowa.

This is the first time this has happened yet, but I'm going to beg to differ with you here. I do disagree with alot that the campaign is doing and has done, yet, I also see the value in not duplicating Buchannan's race. The real question is whether or not this strategy will work. By not placing high in NH I worry that donations might stagnate. If that happens, then the strategy will not have as much power as they are planning.

Thanks I needed that too!

Good to see Ron probably has the same plan today.

The others have wasted money (gee i wonder what they would do as president??) for a few delegates in NH and Iowa. Ron knows the score.

Fight like Hell and we'll win. We'll be Joe Frazier, knocked down in the first couple of rounds, cut, hurt but throwing more punches in the 15th than the 1st round. And we'll win! :)

Ron Paul definitely knows how to run a campaign.

Do no doubt him, he knows what he's doing and he's saving the huge amount of cash for a reason.

I'm about ready for another wild speculation thread to lighten the mood in here :D....wish someone seriously could give us some straight talk about what is going to happen...that much money....so little seen spent so far...strange.

It was an attack ad brochure against his opponent, they say that won it for him in the end.

I think a lot of us are realizing that's where we need to go.

But in the end, Paul capitalized on Laughlin's Democratic past to edge past him in the runoff and become the party's nominee. The National Republican Congressional Committee had printed a brochure condemning Laughlin as corrupt when he ran as a Democrat less than two years earlier. "We weren't doing all that great," Paul said. "And somebody brought me this brochure by the NRCC blasting this guy. So all we did was, we reproduced the whole thing."

I think a lot of us are realizing that's where we need to go.

It won it after they had done a lot of leg work to set up the win:
https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/grassroots/

And Paul has shown that he is willing to show people the other candidates' poor positions based on brochures he has sent already.

What 'we' need to do is set up that grassroots foundation by finding out which of our neighbors will support Ron Paul.
