I've always felt like I thought I ought to be famous... but now... I'm not so sure.

No thanks.

I like privacy too much.

Fame is but a vapor.
A fortune can vanish in an instant.
True character endures forever.

Sure. I think I would like it.

I agree with the first two posts. When I was younger, fame seemed like it could be fun, but the older I get, the more I appreciate that privacy is really something to be cherished.

Buddhism lists the three terrible karmas as:

Fame.
Beauty.
Wealth.

I think I'd prefer to be famous, yes, but only after I'm dead. :)

I'd love to be famous, but for for something GOOD and significant to humanity. Too many people these days seem to be content with just ANY kind of fame, so they do anything they think will get them attention, whether positive or negative. That's why people like Paris Hilton can ride a crest of fame and fortune while real heroes (scientists, philosophers, artists, musicians) usually die broke and unheard of.

I'd much rather have influence than fame.

How famous?

I'd like to be "known for what I've done and well respected" type famous, like many of my personal heros.

Not pop-star/movie-star famous.

Not really. I have nothing against famous people for being famous though. I suppose if it just happened to me, I'd at least be able to be more influential thus making me very careful of the example I make.

I totally think he views it as a cross to bear, not a goal to drool over, too. That alone is the unique qualifier for the Presidency, I feel.

Only if it includes being rich.

I think you are correct. That's why we should take the fame from him. Someone's gotta do it...

Capital idea! Djloti, when you become press secretary would you be willing to have mandatory themed press conferences?
