IRS, smaller government & wiretapping

Recently a very smart young man that I know posted to a social networking site some comments and questions about Ron Paul. He stated he believes RP is the best choice, but has some reservations. I have listed them below. I feel I could answer, but I am interested in getting some answers from here. I'm sure these questions have been posted before, so perhaps someone knows of some especially helpful posts...Or perhaps some links to articles or videos explaining this...

Don't we need the IRS to fund this country?

If we did get rid of the IRS wouldn't a smaller government mean cut backs in area Americans need?

Don't we need quick wiretapping to prevent more terrorist attacks?

One of my favorite ways to find out exactly what Ron has said is to type into google "Ron Paul" then whatever subject you want. No better way than going straight to the horses mouth.
