Just a thought here

What if a well to do individual wanted to drop about $25,000 to the campaign but the limit is $2300. Would it be legal for them to give the campaign $2300 in pre-1965 silver coins being as they're still legal tender at face value but are actually worth about 12x face now with silver almost at $16 an ounce

I think someone should try it then when all the other campaigns start complaining and controversy ensues Dr. Paul gets the perfect opportunity to talk about the Federal Reserve, devaluation of the US Dollar, and how our currency was actually worth a lot more when it was backed by something.

This is an attractive idea that has been around at least four times since June (I counted) and it just won't work. Here is the best thread:

I think the best statement of the problem is that it is a cash donation, and therefore one is limited to coins with $100 total face value, which is only around $1700 value in gold anyway. So one may as well give cash and not give HQ a headache.

As mentioned above, it doesn't work.

Even using $50 gold eagles, HQ can legally only sell/redeem them for face value.

Find a few trustworthy friends/family members and start doing some belated holiday gifting. ;)

Feel free to share the wealth with your close friends/family who would gladly share the wealth with Dr. Paul.

They're worth more if you melt them down :)
