Yes, they are Red states. And that is precisely the point.
I am in Atlanta and I know many, many people voted for Bush and now regret it. Our independents certainly don't lean socialistic, which means we might get a strong showing down in the Old South if we get a strong campaign going on.
I just don't know what to think of Florida - lots of old people there that probably don't understand Paul.

What makes you think we are all crazy religious people?
Socialism is just as much the opium of the masses as religion is, and the Northeast is full of them.
i'm in tyler texas and the meetup group for huckabee is about as big as the ron paul meetup in my town. sad.
"Hope may lie in the South"? Hahahaha! For fascists maybe.

I think he can do well in Georgia.

This may be unpopular but I think the only way to break the South of their warmongering, false patriotism and dependence on the military industrial complex is to bring up Lincoln. They're ancestors, both black and white, were victims of the Yankee empire (I'm an anti-Empire northerner). Much like the Iraqis, and others, are now. Appeal to their Christrianity (both black and white congregations) which I believe is sincere. The Carpenter from Nazareth would never support dropping bombs on men, women and children. Make them choose. It's either their souls or their allegiance to George Bush and the Republican party

Only if Ron Paul STARTS SPENDING REAL $$$ ON TV ADS!!!!!
If he doesn't you can be sure McCain and Ghoulianai will.
300K in NH???? are you kidding me???
Should have been 3 million.....
My friends in New Hampshire said they NEVER saw 1 single ad for Ron Paul....
Yet they have seen MANY for McCain & Romney......
Ron Paul has 40% name recognition...
McCain had 99% before this thing even started....
3 million in ads could've made a difference.....we might have won. We would have reaped 30$ million for that investment if we won.
300K too little too late....
There are many people you will reach NO OTHER WAY than TV. Especially those over 60.
In my mothers senior citizen building, you can't even get inside, unless you know someone there. Every person I have tried to sell Ron Paul too has bought in.
Every single person had NEVER EVEN HEARD OF RON PAUL....
Problem is, theres litterally hundreds of senior citizen buildings just like this around...that i can't get into, because i know no one who lives in them...and there are countless numbers of these place around the country.
Guess what... 30 seconds ads during the local news reach these people canvassers can't.
Want to know why we did so poorly in the older vote demographic...
300K in TV advertising.
The campaign needs to make a stand....
Decide a state they think they can win before super Tuesday....
SC, NV, or FL
BOMBARD IT WITH TELEVISION ADS AND WIN IT.
You take 1st....
The MSM Media blockade will be broken and tons of Free Media will be reaped for the following primaries and super Tuesday.
Pat Buchanan said before if Ron Paul pulls in 22 million, 19 million of it will stay in the bank...
I'm starting to think he's right.
It's time for the campaign to realize Having tons of volunteers on the ground is not gonna be enough.
Thats why so many people donated to buy the TV time to get the name recognition he needs which in turns into more donations from New donors.
A 5 Million TV ad campaign might have been enough to win and reap 30 Million in free publicity.
Instead we have all these older independents who voted for McCain thinking he will get us out of Iraq and NOT EVEN KNOWING RON PAUL WAS AGAINST THE WAR FROM THE START AND VOTED AGAINST IT.
The Message is great, but if people never hear it, it does them no good...
I sure hope the campaign is ready to start spending Big $$$ on TV ad campaigns for the upcoming states.
It's the ONLY way to win the nomination.

Buffal, I agree with you a lot. I think we need TV and newspaper ads.
Forget the direct mail. What a waste. People will trash it all!!! And it's expensive and ridiculously outdated.

I wouldnt give up on Florida. True there is a large elderly population in southern Florida however im up in northwest Florida and its a HUGE military area. The largest Air Force base in the WORLD is in my backyard. There is a ton of support in Pensacola. Here in Fort Walton Beach the support is growing. I agree however that the Dr. needs to spend some campaign cash on TV and whatnot. I personally am going to start donation more to the Chipins and whatnot. nothing against the campaign i just think my money would do better in TV ads.

I am a Southerner. Was in college republicans, newt was my elected official and inspired me to follow politics. Grew up in a small town in Georgia before moving up to Atlanta for highschool. Wife is from a small own in AL.
Unless he reframes his foriegn policy message to a sharp 30 second soundbite with a few gotcha comebacks for the debates then no he will not do well in the South. I think the connection he never talks about is how unsecure our borders are and if we didn't have to be over there we could have the funds to protect our borders at home. There are a lot of good analogies for that to use. Just my opinion, and I know there are hundreds.

I agree that the campaign needs to sink SEVERAL million dollars into ads into the most viable state. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
On top of that if we actually won a state think of the donation influx it would create. We could most likely do a "money bomb" just days after the win and recoup every bit of the money spent.

I haven't given up on Florida....
But if we don't start showing some TV ads there in heavy saturation, this campaign needs some new personel.
The ONLY way you reach the older generation is Television....
Otherwise they vote for warmongering Liars like McCain thinking he will get us out of Iraq.
Could u imagine how different NH could have turned out if there was a few Million spent on a TV spot showing McCains Let's stay a 100 years in Iraq comment? If it had been on every local news station in NH 5 days before the primary....things couldve been different.
Instead the MSM will preach to the nation nationally and locally that anti bush and anti war people gave McCain the victory in NH.....further marginalizing RP.....
IF RON PAUL CAN'T BEAT MCCAIN FOR THE ANTI WAR VOTE IN NH.....THERE ARE SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE DEALT WITH INHOUSE.
IF THE CAMPAIGN CAN'T SHOW A STATE THAT SOMEONE WHO STOOD UP TO BUSH ON THE WAR, THAT RON PAUL IS THE REAL ANTIWAR CANDIDATE.....PEOPLE NEED TO BE REPLACED BY SOMEONE WHO CAN CAN.
WTF.....
I HATE TO SAY NEGATIVE THINGS....BUT I AM HOPING SOMEONE AT HQ GETS A CLUE AND FIGURES THIS OUT....
THE DONATIONS WILL STOP WITHOUT RESULTS
AND 5TH PLACE IN AN ANTI WAR STATE IS NOT RESULTS......ITS A COMPLETE FAILURE AND SHOW OF INCOMPETANCE AT HQ.
SPEND THE MONEY EVERYONE DONATED.....SIT ON IT AND IT WILL BE TOO LATE.....

Well, weirdly enough, Paul did better in "right-wing, Christian" Iowa, than "enlightened, libertarian" New Hampshire.

I seen this Poll on AOL a month or so ago.
This one had over 200,000 votes and the only ones that showed strongest for RP were four states in the south and two in the west.
So you might be right.

As someone in South Georgia I don't think Ron Paul has much chance here. The Rednecks around here fully support blowing away the towelheads. The Christians here pretty much feel the same. Everyone else is 100% apathetic. I'm doing what I can down here and was hopeful at least for my town, but now I seriously doubt anything is going to work. Its really hard to counter the MSM.

I am in Central Georgia, and I see something totally different. Almost everyone I know here is voting for Dr. Paul. There are signs spontaneously going up and sign wavings taking place. All of these are done by Paul supporters.....

The South has been conquered and assimilated, for the most part. Most worship Honest Abe and few know what a monster he really was.
Libertarian thinking is still fairly common, but it is confused, mixed in with other crap, and does not seem to translate into votes. A massive education campaign is needed.

TV, newspaper, and radio ads. Also editorials written to the newspapers would be good with NV and SC coming up let's start now to get these areas covered. Sign waves daily especially in small towns or towns that have no meetups as obviously they have yet to hear about him.

He needs to stand up and be the Man in the South.
Lame politeness don't get it anymore.
We are dealing with pathetic ignorance in the South.
We can't educate them. My fellow Southroners are just too stupid and mal-educated already.
It all lost ?
No, but the South is not a positive without a lot of work.
It can be, there is potential .
But it will take a lot of work to make it happen.

I'm in Georgia...most folks dont know who he is. TV ads are coming in (I'm on SC border) but its pretty lame...same one over and over. An infomercial is really needed...something that has a SHOCKER effect. Explain ALL the issues...including terrorism stance...illegal immagration, economy, ect.....and it has to happen...uh yesterday. At the very least soome much better ads of some type. That much money...and no more than what were seeing this close to SC primary is dreadful and sad quite honestly.

Ron Paul's biggest meetup group is in the South. Ron Paul is from the South. The South should be his best chance at delegates and respect.
