One thing about Paul that seems to put him at a disadvantage (as far as the general public is concerned) compared to other candidates is he is speaking off the top of his head, when you look at other candidates speaking they are obviously reading something written prior.

I personally don't see it as a disadvantage. If a person can say as much as Ron Paul says just off the top of his head I find that pretty darn impressive. I am less impressed with rehearsed speeches by politicians sounding like politicians.

One thing he could do to improve things though would be to tone down his use of terminology. He's such a walking encyclopedia of facts that I think the terms he throws around casually go right over most American's heads.

Billy-Bob: "What the f*ck is monetary policy?"
Peggy-Sue: "Non-interventi... what?"

He could reword such terms so the layman can understand him. This I think would make him more appealing to the common man.
