Ron Paul on Department of Defense, etc.???

Quick dummy question here. I get that RP doesn't see the need for, and indeed would like the abolishment of most Federal departments, but he's really intense on security and defense (w/out forfeiting individual liberties).

So, with deparments that generally exist for the sole purpose of performing those functions, is he still against having them?... in particular, Department of Defense, and perhaps NASA, and some others...

As I understand it, RP is against NASA (not a defense department) but would support the Defense department to the point that it would be able to defend our nation.
