The TSA says the badges and uniforms will better reflect the critical nature of the screeners' jobs and the ever-higher standards. But the screeners' present look isn't unprofessional. Their shirts are businesslike and bear a prominent TSA logo, along with large identification cards that clearly indicate their role.

While were at it, how 'bout we issue them those navy blue jackets with the gold letters on the back, with the acronym of the Federal Air Transportation And Safety Service too! :D

More paramilitary...coming to an airport near you. NOW let's see you argue about those X-ray body scanners!

The Star-Lefty actually comes out against this?

I flew recently to Chicago out of Charlotte. In Charlotte, two of the TSA myrmidons checking IDs spoke less English than the illegals that mow my neighbors' lawns.

Gave me a real sense of security...

It would be funny if everyone dressed like a cop.

Would definitely confuse the system. Half the cops just wear all black now anyway - no id or badge.

Wonder what the standard is for "impersonating an officer" violations?

Welcome to the NEUE AMERIKA.

Some federal and local law officers fear the new accouterments could confuse passengers into thinking screeners are real police.

I think the bigger danger is that a large number of the screeners already believe they are the police.
