Well, after all this hype, nothing short of an hour interview would live up to expectations. Truth be told, it's those little 4 second shout outs that really does the trick anyway. Look at it this way, there are probably at least 1 million people who just heard of Ron Paul that had never heard of him before.

The political analyst suggested that he used libertarian mailing lists with lots of military on them.

He also stated RP votes against almost all spending and foreign intervention and in the same breath could not figure out why our military wouldn't want to be sent all over the world to die for other countries' wars. Hmmm... they must not know Ron Paul very well. That's it.

And then he also played down the amount - only $18,000. So keep it all in perspective.

AlexAmore

Does Barone always speak with a tremor? Or do you think the Fox goons had him under duress to spin and minimize the story?

And what is the point of reporting that military donations were just 1% of Paul's money raised? Who cares about that?

hells_unicorn
07-20-2007, 10:02 AM
Although I am glad of the coverage on Fox due to their viewer numbers, Michael Barone has to be the biggest buffoon in the world.

1. Some Libertarian Mailing List?

It really says something about politics today when people use excuses like this, knowing full well that it means that Republican and Democrat mailing lists are implied to be less effective at raising money. If this were actually true (which I am almost positive it isn't), it means that both major parties are now equally despised by the military, which means it still shows our strength.

2. These people only "Identify themselves" as military?

This implies a level of dishonesty amongst those donating, however, it would stand to reason that other campaigns (especially Obama's) would invite similar kinds of dishonesty in order to bolster their numbers, as Obama supporters tend to be just about as zealous as we so-called extremists are. Mike Barone is not using very sound logic here.

In conclusion, we got a mention on the news, and any mention will be positive. There was spin, but the hatchet job was not nearly as forceful as I expected.

Johnnybags
07-20-2007, 10:02 AM
the massive text voting, heck his campaign is not even organized yet, they just left a 358 sq ft hole in the wall and have 1 NH guy and 3 IOWA guys? Yep, all it would have taken is one call to one contributor and ask if he gave money due to a mass mailing? Why bother when you make up news, that place should be shut down. FAUX NEWS- We decide what news to make up thru our military censors!!!

E.D. says...

Not one of the names that you hear right up at the top of the list when people are talking about the...certainly the front runners in the campaign.

Well I guess that all depends on who those people are and what they are listening to when they hear it.

If they are people who are listening to OM, then yeah. But if you listen to the NM, well that's all you hear.

Don't get your hopes up.. Fox news will probably say that they support "republicans" they'd never say Ron Paul.. ever. ...

but a guy can hope.

I am inclined to agree with Thatguyuknow's prediction. Since Ron Paul comes in first, they will obfuscate that fact by using a germ of truth - i.e., they will amalgamate Ron Paul with the rest of the candidates, and then report that: "Republicans take number one in fundraising amongst the military." In other words: Try to mitigate Ron Paul himself, but then using his success to promote the rest of the candidates. Right? How evil that is, but that is FOX "News."

veteransforpaul
07-20-2007, 01:36 PM
Yes. It is really an Orwellian paradigm of analysis by the MSM. They will run a poll, and then if Ron Paul wins, or does very well, the poll then becomes "insignificant." Well, why do they bother to run the polls then?

I remember the first debate poll on MSNBC. MSNBC conducted a pre-debate poll, at which time Ron Paul was near the bottom. It was the establishment candidates at the top. It was the after-the-debate poll that Ron Paul won by a wide margin. How do they explain that? Poll spammers. However, they didn't attribute the pre-debate poll results to poll spammers. I guess all of those people just disappeared after the debate.
