They taped it during the morning and aired it latter that night. So yes, he was probably a little excited, but no one had seen the footage yet.

No it wasn't. She said that, but she was wrong. That aired live at about 5 am PT. Do you think The Tonight Show is taped at 3 am? They tape at 4:30 pm the same day it airs.
