7NEWS/Suffolk Poll: Close Races in New Hampshire
The latest 7NEWS/Suffolk University tracking poll this morning shows Sen. Barack Obama edging Sen. Hillary Clinton, 35% to 34%, with John Edwards at 15%.

Among likely Republican primary voters, Mitt Romney edges Sen. John McCain, 30% to 27%, with Rudy Giuliani third at 10%, Mike Huckabee at 9%, and Rep. Ron Paul at 8%.

Note that this poll is a consistent outlier relative to others showing a much-smaller Obama lead in the Democratic race and putting Romney ahead of McCain in the GOP race.

Republicans in dead heat
In the Republican Primary, the 7NEWS/Suffolk University poll also shows the margin remains the same as it has for the past three days, essentially a dead heat. Mitt Romney (30 percent) led John McCain (27 percent), followed by Rudy Giuliani (10 percent), Mike Huckabee (9 percent) Ron Paul (8 percent), and Fred Thompson (2 percent). Thirteen percent were undecided.

“The front-runners remain fixed in their positions,” said Paleologos. “Republican voters may have been waiting to get one last look at their candidates in a debate last night. Whether that forum changes minds or not remains to be seen. It’s a cliché perhaps, but what is clear from these numbers is that the campaigns must shift to the ground war.”

The 7NEWS-Suffolk University tracking poll was conducted Jan. 5 and Jan. 6. The margin of error for each party subsample of 500 respondents is +/- 4.38 percent at a 95 percent level of confidence. The 1,000-respondent margin of error is +/- 3.10 percent. All respondents were likely voters for the respective New Hampshire presidential primaries on Jan. 8, 2008. Charts, marginals and 54 pages of cross-tabulation data will be posted on the Suffolk University Political Research Center Web site on Jan. 7, 2008.

This is shaping up like Iowa. We have the opportunity to jump ahead of a couple candidates and come in a strong 3rd. We're right there.

HOW, HOW , HOW is the ghoul polling better when not 2 days ago he was single digits to our double digits?

I am moving into the "votes are scammed" mentality. I feel the polls are being manipulated to validate the "results"...arghhhhh... I am going maddddddd.

I do not see any Rudy, Thompson, or Huckabee signs in my area. NONE. McCain, Romney and Paul signs all over the place (many I have not placed)

(Lebanon/Hanover area)

Make sure you're not comparing apples to oranges. Were those different time series in the same poll--or different polls? ;)

We should know by now the polls are manipulated and these guys will resort to anything to preserve their agenda.

That may be so, but you don't need signs to support/vote for a candidate.

it'snot what place we are but the margin we're in that place by. The margin in the poll makes 3rd a lot easier than the margin the polls showed in Iowa. stay optimistic, our NH brothers will come through, if not them Michigan or Nevada.

I think the results on super tuesday no matter who wins will be a mixed bag no matter who's go the momentum, so keep optimistic. If we bomb super tuesday, then we just fight under the libertarian banner is all. Our support is growing fast but a lot of things do work against us in these primaries.

- early registration deadlines as the movement was spiking, especially the party change deadlines
- lot of rule changes in many primary and caucus systems

No matter what we need to be int he general election,t hee is wide chunk or our support that came in too late to change their party affiliation and to register in some states, and it will continue to grow, so we still got a chance.

If Ron did make the 3rd party annoucement after the RNC convention it'd make a lot of noise, plus it'd be the protest vote for people who just don't like their options.

They are a scam. People believe the polls and they don't question the outcome after the votes are tallied . Silly but it's been working for years.:eek:

if McCain loses he's done, if Romney loses he's done

this is a perfect scenario
