In the race for the Republican Presidential nomination, former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson ticked up a couple of points to 26% while former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani remains in second at 21%. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Arizona Senator John McCain are tied at 11%. (see history). Mike Huckabee is favored by 4%, five other candidates split 6%, and 21% are undecided. The five other candidates, mentioned by name in the survey, are Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, Tommy Thompson, and Sam Brownback.

The Rasmussen Reports Election 2008 Presidential Tracking Poll is updated daily, Monday through Friday. New results will be posted each day by noon Eastern for the Republican and Democratic Presidential Nomination competitions along with general election match-ups, state polls, and information on the issues that drive the campaign. The tracking poll will be expanded to seven days a week before the calendar turns to 2008.
Daily tracking results are from survey interviews conducted over four days ending last night. Each update includes approximately 750-800 Likely Democratic Primary Voters and 600-650 Likely Republican Primary Voters. Margin of sampling error for each is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
