What we need is more discussion between "us" and "them." A few things have pointed to this that I've seen lately, and I just came up with a good idea for how to go about this. What we need is a website set up for debating. Real debates with rules, specific topics, 1 on 1 or 2 on 2. It should be impartial/non-partisan, and allow people to do the following:

A) Sign up
B) Offer a debate proposal to the world at large
C) Allow other people who have signed up to accept the offer
D) Debate within specific agreed upon rules under penalty (forfeiture, reduced word allowance, etc), such as:

Offense will offer a case for the positive (2000 words);
Defense will offer a case for the negative (2000 words);
Offense will offer 1st rebuttal to the negative (1000 words);
Defense will offer rebuttal (1000 words);
Offense will offer final remarks (500 words);
Defense will offer final remarks (500 words).

With each new reply being offered within an agreed upon time period of (depending on the debaters) say 12 hours, or 48 hours.

E) Allow the community to post comments in a SEPARATE forum, NOT on the debate page itself.
F) Allow the community to vote on the winner.

This is really the kind of thing we need to show fans of other candidates. If they think their candidate is the right man for the job, well, let's debate them on it!
