View Full Version : Ron Paul ruined my college career

After listening to Ron speak and researching his views on my own, I came to realize a few months ago that my political science professors are....not so bright. How am I supposed to go back for the spring semester and force myself to "learn" from these hacks now?

THANKS A LOT, RON!

Just ask questions about how does this fit into the constitution or show your smarts and say hey, the constitution doesn't explicity give the federal government this duty, shouldn't it be left to the states or require an amendment.

etc.

he ruined my college career in that I am only taking one class this semester, to give myself more time to campaign.

And that one class? Constitutional Law

Thats' rather ironic.

Because I RETURNED to college (After not knowing which degree track to pick) TO political science.

I expect to see a lot of disinformation; but I can't stop myself from doing it!

Just focus on getting your degree. Nod your head, learn the crap they spew. You will do a great service when you make it through and teach real information.

I had the option of taking a class this semester (am on my co-op, which is a 6-month internship where i work instead of go to class) but decided not to because I wanted to campaign more.

I even considered quitting my job o.O

I'm still a history major but RP has enthused me in some of my research on topics like the federal reserve and the income tax and I also joined a student legislature group.

This is where you write the slam dunk thesis, get collegial and peer reviewed recognition and knock the know-it-all know nothing Professor out of his catbird seat. out of tenure and teach real politics instead of the sham cult of Machiavellian mish mosh mashed up with Hegelian dialecticals. In the meantime blow him off the podium in front of the other students with cogent arguments countering his BS.

I was thinking about going back to school and becoming a college professor. I remember when I was in college a lot of the professors were hacks, but I had some good ones that really spiked my intellectual capability. The United States needs more good college professors.

If you want to get into to politics don't get political science degree, get a business, economics, history, or law degree. A political science degree will be worthless to you. They will hardly teach you anything you can't learn by simply reading Dr. Paul's books or from other people like him.

part of the reason the country sucks is because all of our educational systems were taken over by socialists in the 20s and 30s (whether or not you agree with the conspiracy theory that is was orchestrated), and has been since. yes, we need as many of us to go into teaching as possible, in addition to political office, NGO boards, etc

I've always viewed political science as a fake major. The only social science worth anything at all, in my opinion, is economics. Outside of social science but on the same general stuff, it's statistics.

What a fascinating dilemma. Isn't it interesting how our educational system
feeds us with garbage, especially when it comes to our history, economic
and political systems. It means we have to spend years unlearning all
that junk, only then to learn what the heck is really going on.

Ask a lot of questions. The best way to teach is by making someone question their own views from the outside perspective. Alternatively, the best way to learn is by teaching and having the answers to the questions being asked.

welcome to reality...im a business major and economics major (BEST major by far...they introduce you to ppl, and if u can learn more on ur own you feel like you can be on top of the world)....and i've done a lot of reading on my own time about the whole aspect of business....my teachers basically are extremely knowledged in looking good when they teach the overview of business, but none (for the most part) have a good business mind....

it sucks but you will get used to it....also dont read anything telling you how shitty a college degree really is...that makes is a lot worse lol

BUT what I love tho is going to class knowing I'm smarter than the teacher, and I always look around my classes and realize im in a completely different league than the ppl here becuz I learn on my own time as well....it's amazing to feel like that

i'm going to school for accounting atm, and last semester i had a class called Individual Taxation, basically a class dedicated to the income tax explaining the working of it, learned about the evil AMT. After hearing about Ron Paul and him wanting to get rid of the IRS thus getting rid of the income tax made me realize how pointless that class will be, and it made me not want to actually go to the class but i ended up passing easily. Have some poly sci classes next semester and i can't wait to question the hell out of them.

I thought about getting a pol sci degree. Instead I have a degree in audio engineering with a minor in marketing. I have often thought about going back for a pol sci degree and becoming an attorney (ugh) but I tend to be lazy and don't want to work that hard. In that case if I do go back I might go for a MBA. ;)

Well, it's not just that, but when the government runs the schools, the schools will teach the government's agenda. It is not in the government's best interest to have a well educated populace now is it?

First thing first, the government needs to be OUT of education at all levels, but at minimum at the federal level.

Oh man, I was in the same boat my Freshman year.

My Poli Sci 101 prof, on the first day of class, made it a point to tell us she had received her Bachelor's from UC Berkley-Class of '68. She didn't bother to tell us where she got her PHD from. Told me everything I needed to know...glad I was undeclared... ;)

My 2 cents. Dump Poli Sci. Find the Economics dept. Make sure they aren't a bunch of Keynesians (if they are, you are screwed...now it's time to transfer). If your school has some solid Austrian Economics scholars, those are the people that have what you are looking for.

Everyone in college or going to college must guard themselves, because the perfessers are mainly ivory tower lefties and full of malarky. Especially in humanties and social sciences. If you want to debate it, do so subtly. Otherwise, just regurgitate it back to them, but let it go in one ear and out the other.

However, I myself DID once have a really free-market economics perfesser...

I dealt with this issue years ago. I do not think it will do anyone any good to contend, argue, or tell the teacher they are wrong.

I agree with the comment about just nod your head. Complete the assignments, and graduate. I know that in some classes it is hard because you are cringing inside about the garbage that is being taught.

One of my professors knew I was a hardcore RP supporter and did his best to work him into class discussions in order to stimulate debate, but I just couldn't get excited about his curriculum at all. The class was "Political Parties" and we spent the entire time learning about red state vs. blue state drivel exclusively.

Yeah Ron Paul definitely made me think a lot more about things. I always had similar views before. But now I can just take a look at any policy and reflect back on what Ron Paul would think about it. It's all I can ever think about. Ron Paul has definitely changed my life. And maybe affected my college career by making me obsessed with reading about him and watching all the videos.

I've taken Federal and state grants and loans. I left college, and I'm not returning until I can simultaneously pay off my debts to the public and fund my own education.

As for the grants, I hope to earn enough one day to donate at least the equivalent amount (adjusted for inflation - which, hopefully, if we win shouldn't add on too much) to someone else for their education in addition to the education of my child(ren).
