No one can ever accuse Dr. Paul of being a flip-flopper. Watch this 1988 interview and you will see why:

He could have delivered this interview yesterday! Same message - solid as a rock, unwavering, crystal clear.

Amazing.

I agree. That's one of the most appealingly things for me about Paul. He's got a solid well-reasoned philosophy based on individual liberty, and that philosophy leads to a consistent position on policy and governance. All of his positions arise from that basic philosophy, and so everything he's said, since like forever, has been consistent and rational.

I don't know of any other politicians like that. Their philosophy is based on "whatever is expedient to get power", and so their positions flip-flop with the current mood of the public. Placed next to Paul, their shabbiness just shines through.

I especially like the part where is predicts the bankruptcy of the Soviet Union. (He even encourges them to prop up a failing Mexican government, saying it will bankrupt them even faster)

Remember folks, this is 1988. The cold war was still on.

Good interview. He's flip flopped on the death penalty since then, but other than that it's the same message as today.
