Actually WORKING for a political campaign is something that most of us are probably not used to. I certainly haven't ever done anything political before. It's so much easier to just sit back and watch. This election, however, is far too important to let slide due to idleness. Please, please, take that first step and help us win our country back. In the 1770s people died for our freedoms, yet the fruits of their labor are slipping away from us today and we can barely rouse ourselves enough to talk to our neighbors about it. Ron Paul's platform is not an easy one for people to understand and adopt because it is so unlike what we're used to hearing. As I like to say, "They talk soundbites. He talks sound policy."

Your first real action in support of Ron Paul is definitely the most difficult. It takes a lot mentally and emotionally to go from passive interest to active supporter. Even attending that first meetup event or putting a bumper sticker on your car might make you feel like a bit of an activist. But once you have that first action under your belt, everything else is much easier, and it feels so good to know that you are defending that which is truly good in America.

One of the most helpful and important things you can do at this point is sign up to be a precinct captain (http://voters.ronpaul2008.com/). This will put a direct link between you with the campaign and make sure that our individual efforts are organized so as to have the greatest effect. Check out this forum (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=254) for more information.

If you don't think you can handle a precinct captain position, don't let that keep you from being active in other real-world ways. Make no mistake, the time for YouTubing and online polls is over. A lot of people currently in power will lose a lot of money and power if Ron Paul is elected. They are not just standing by and letting that happen. If YOU don't do something NOW, you will not see Ron Paul taking the oath of office on January 20, 2009.

Take up the torch of freedom. Our forebears did not win that torch for you lightly.

Welcome, new supporters... and don't be scared of the negativity on the boards.
People who back Ron Paul tend to be critical thinkers, and it shows!

So join your Meetup and get materials, including "slim jims." Put a bumper sticker on your car. Put a sign on your lawn. Wear a button on your coat. Figure out your biggest reasons to support Ron Paul and TALK to as many people as you can about how you're going to vote for him and don't let their doubts or apathy get you down. Sign up to be precinct captain if you can handle it. And please donate to the campaign or to one of the many grassroots projects (look on the homepage of the Ron Paul Forums, up at the top there are clickable banners for different projects such as Operation Broadcast Freedom).

There's not much time... do what you can!
