I feel incredibly frustrated right now, completely disenfranchised. I hate Wyoming right now. I'm so sorry guys. Natrona County doesn't even get a delegate, just an alternate, but still.

Okay, here's what happened.

When we came into the room we went to the sign-in table. Delegates got a nametag with a red sticker, Alternates a blue sticker, and regular folks, no sticker. I was hopeful I would get to vote, since I was an alternate, but nope my precinct delegates showed up.

Delegates sat in one section, and the rest of us in another. Only delegates could vote, could ask questions, etc.

There were two choices for alternate delegate to the RNC, Bill Cubin for Romney, and Kyle True, uncommitted. Had anyone been representing Ron Paul, he would have been very quickly eliminated based on the results of the straw poll we also held there. Meaning again, down to two choices, of those we ended with the better choice of Kyle - not that it matters because Natrona Cty doesn't get a delegate anyway, only an alternate.

Then they voted on people to send to the Statewide Convention where the final two delegates will be picked in May. This I was REALLY hopeful about because my name was on the list to be voted on. There were about 100 people on the list, 40 delegates were chosen, and 40 alternates. I wasn't one of them. Instead it was glaringly obvious that the same people sitting in the voting section were once again going to be the people voting at the state convention.

All the voting power in the state is in the hands of a very few and they're not giving up that power for anything. In the "audience" because that's all we got to be was an audience I met 4 more Ron Paul supporters. In the straw poll there were 13 of us in attendance, and the bulk of those were "audience" members, not voters. There wasn't a damn thing we could do. And I want to cry. We tried to get as many RP people in there as voters, and we failed. We just . . .

God, please let New Hampshire go better than this went for us.

You know what's worse? When what's-his-face got up there to announce the results to the news media, and tell us how all the counties voted, guess who's name he absolutely refused to even mention as a candidate?

He mentioned EVERY single candidate EXCEPT Ron Paul. Every one. I said mostly to myself, "I think you're forgetting someone" and a lady in the voting section turned around to glare at me.

Don't worry Diana, I think we are all upset right now at the system in WY.

The flaws in this GOP run system are quite evident.

Thanks for doing what you can for our country.

Diana -

As someone who endured the same system today, I can identify with your observations. Let's move on to New Hampshire. Ron deserves his chance for revenge especially on the naysayers within the GOP that insist that Ron doesn't stand a chance to win the GOP nomination.

Yeah, I hope he kicks butt big-time in New Hampshire.

This isn't a battle that will be won this day, or even this year. This battle is going to take years.

Remember that the ultimate goal is to to take back control of these positions of power, one-by-one, just the way they were captured in the first place, and put them into the hands of people who have no personal agendas except to defend freedom.

You did your best. You walked away from it a lot wiser than you went in.

Next time, you'll be ready.

I for one do not like the system Wyoming is using to choose its nomination. It inst' organized very well and is hard for new comers to enter.

I was unable to become a delegate. So I watched the Campbell county convention. I am rather sick hearted. We only had two nominated for the national spot. A Pro Ron representative and a Coal Lobbyist representing Romney(that was not very versed in his candidate). It was somewhat close but Romney won.

But after the results were named, and now seeing the full state's results it makes me think, and I don't like what I'm thinking. I see special interest and religious groups dominating areas.

I mean no ill will, I'm Just rather shocked. I hope Wyoming is a wild card and isn’t a representative of the national voting system. That’s my little rant…

Thanks one an all in Wyoming for all your hard work.

I think that explains why we didn't get any delegates even though we had advertising and wrote letters. We're the newcomers and they're the old guard and they're not giving up power, and least not yet. And the old guard, far from being independent men and women of the West, are heavily tied into the system from Washington and corporate boardrooms of the East all the way to Powder River. The same is true of a lot of GOP parties in the West, especially Alaska. And its why Wyoming has a Democrat for governor.

Its politics 101, old guard vs. new guard. Our advanatge is, we're young and active and they're old and dying. Today was only a start. We've got to keep fighting and stay active in the local parties or we'll never get anywhere.

Thanks again for all you've done

Sounds like a very shady operation. It reminds me of high school student council elections. Where everyone votes for their friends, and campaigning really doesn't make a difference. That is probably why the candidates didn't spend too much time or effort on Wyoming, their caucuses are pretty much a joke.

The old guard will die quick enough and we will take it sooner or later. Cold called Ron Paul supporters in my district and a couple of them that signed up are not even old enough to vote, and said thier whole class understands and supports Ron Paul. The younger generation is smarter and more intelligent than many in the older and that gives me a lot of hope.

What happened in WY wouldnt really matter if we had more than 2 dominant parties running this country unfortunately we do not and the ones that exist make it so we dont really have open democracy at the federal level in this country. Its painful to see now that the special interests are the only ones that have real choice in these functions while giving the rest of the electorate thier "choices" of take it or leave it.

Freedom obviously only exists today for those in power.

Actually, Paul's principles are old guard. He espouses traditional conservatism. The problem is that the big government Republicans have gotten control of the Republican party now. ie. the Rockefeller Republicans and the neoconservatives.

Some of you young people seem to think that just because you have just recently discovered Paul, this fight is somehow new. It has been going on for a long time.

Luckily the caucuses in Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico, Hawaii, Kansas, Alaska, North Dakota and Washington are open ones where the average Republican (registered Republican anyway) joe can show up and vote. It was Wyoming and Montana that have these cockamamie systems where only party insiders can vote on delegate selection.

How can you build a strong, broad-based party if you limit access to its activities, especially choosing deleagtes to the national convention? You want backrooms and cigar smoke? Fine. You're entitled to that. That's not my complaint. But back then at least parties gave out jobs and patronage for services rendered. This is more like a country club election. Fine then.

When the day comes Diana people like yourself and other RP supporters are running things in the Wyoming GOP, please promise you'll have open caucuses where all Republicans can participate.

LOL!!! This reminds me of when a kid reaches puberty and all of a sudden thinks they know more than their parents. Then they grow up and realize that their parents weren't so stupid after all.

How in hell do you think Dr. Paul has gotten elected for TEN terms? Because a lot of us old farts have been sending him money since before you were an itch in your daddy's pants. ;)

I guess we can just shrug our shoulders. Too bad people are dying, our freedoms are gone, the economy is gone, America is gone and we can thank all those ignorant fascist ladies with the glaring eyes.

After reading the horror stories of corruption in every state, I can see how we lost it all. I am sorry to have to say this, but they are leaving the people no choice. Do we really think it will be different in N.H., or Mich, or any other state?

do you remember a month or more ago when there was a Clinton/Giuliani/Paul Presidential election poll and Ron got 8%? This is what we need to keep in the back or our minds. the GOP wants to keep their current mark on the party. there might be a time where we have to think about doing things on our own, depending on the outcome of the primaries. Ron Paul said he doesn't plan on running. But that doesn't mean we aren't going to run Ron Paul.
