now im very confused

i thought the way it was done was that we have primarys to figure out who will go on to the general election...

now i hear people saying... we are electing candidates in the primarys to go on to the general primary and then to the general election...

what the heck is even going on right now.

Each state decides their own rules.

Under the RNC by-laws states can have primaries (NH), caucuses (IA, WY), conventions or meetings. Texas uses a hybrid of three of them.
