Ok..I knwo this is the wrong board, but nobody reads the other ones.

My question is this..if my local city bans signs (ron paul of course) in my yard or on my fence, or even my house (I have a very highly visible home on the main highway in my town), do you think it would be legal to PAINT one side of my house as a campaign sign?

The West side of my house is visible for probably 1-1.5 miles straight down the highway. I was thinking I could paint the whole side like an american flag, and then a RONPAUL2008.COM or something similar.

Thoughts??

You need to look up the zoning laws, etc in your city/township...

That would be AWESOME!

Unless you're in a private community with regulations on that kind of thing (or in my case an historic district), you should be fine with painting your house.

The car dealer I was working at was not allowed by code to put signs at a important intersection. One of the employees had a house on the corner and code enforcer said painting it on the house was not a violation, just like they can not tell you what color your house can be (unless in ahistoric district).

Your property your rights. I would be having a field day with authority telling me what signs I can place on my property. I promise I would call a local tv news station and they will come and do a report on it. Hint hint hint... The local news stations eats this stuff up..

The Secretary of State is responsible for Elections - that includes the 'political signage' and it's restrictions. Go to your SOS's website and put "political sign restrictions" into the site's search engine and that should pull up the pertinent statutes.

Here in Arizona, the only restrictions on signage on private, non-commercial property are size (limited to 23 square feet total) and placement (can't be placed within 10 feet of a driveway or the corner of a lot where streets meet, so as to not block motorists vision).

I'd put anything up on my own property. Then I'd toss up a no tresspassing sign. Piss on em.

I do construction. This stuff is very durable and strong and will last years in the elements of mother nature.. Make your own sign out of it..

I have a holiday projector(10.00) bucks on EBAY that you can easily print off RP stuff off the net onto translucent plastic and cut out a round gobo(its called), feed into the projector at night and Wallah, an attention grabber, a beam off your house, you can also use perm marker on anything plastic)round and write whatever on it you want. If that does not work, get some heavey vinyl wallpaper(white on the back) and paint anything you want on it. Get em in the overstock or discontinued bins for cheap at a wallpaper store. The gobo projector is hillarious though, you can change the message anytime.
If the ole zoning board comes around ask em where they were when Santa was beaming off your house.

Yeah, i used to put that stuff on the houses I sided. It's some tough sh!t.
I have a buddy who still sides...I could get him to steal me a roll, but I'd really prefer a professional sign.

I found this to be helpful in our efforts, while it is fairly location specific, it does talk about nationwide court cases on this issue
