How about Ron Paul supporters send massive care packages to the Troops in Iraq and Afganistan, inlude Ron Paul signs and shirts with all the essentials they need.

Then send press releases to all of the media outlets.

OH THATS A GREAT IDEA!!!!

"This care package brought to you by a fellow Patriot and Ron Paul supporter. Ron Paul supports the troops!" :)

maybe we can send them phone cards, so they can call home. Imagine:

Solider: Hey mom and dad Ron Paul send me a phone Card
Mon and Dad: Who?

Solider: Ron Paul, he is running for president, we wants to bring us home and end this stupid war.

Mom and Dad: Oh, I did not know that I will vote for him and get all my friends to vote for him.

Fox News: Ahhh Nuts!

prepaid phone cards are the best and most useful things to send troops overseas, according to the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, whose phone campaign is called Help Our Troops Call Home. Prepaid phone cards can be sent to individual troops or to any troop via a service such as the American Red Cross. As well as phone cards, send a batch of blank greeting cards, so that troops can remember loved ones back home.

Good Idea

I have a better idea than care packages. Create a Ron Paul ad in a military newspaper.

I am an Army Soldier in Afghanistan. I wish I could do this but I really don't want to test the waters and push the envelope as a soldier.

I tried to get a political ad posted in the Middle East Edition of the Stars and Stripes (popular military newspaper) and my chain of command told me not to. They said that I cannot have my name associated with a political ad. I can only donate money but my name can't be on it.

So someone else needs to set up a fundraiser to put a Ron Paul ad in military newspapers. The Stars and Stripes (Mideast Edition) is the only newspaper the troops get for free on military bases in the Middle East. There is about 500,000 soldiers (plus civilian contractors) who will see the ad. I would set the fundraiser up myself, but like I said earler, I cant be directly involved. I definately cannot have my name on the ad. I also am not very internet savy the set up a website. But the contact person to post an ad in the Stars and Stripes is here:

Can we get phone cards with RP picture on it? We could send those.

this company can create custom cards, and we can get a personalized message as well.

Maybe we can tie this into an star and strips ad as well.

I'm not so sure about this idea...

Many in the MSM and in the country will attack Paul and his supporters for trying to politicize the armed forces directly and because our belief is for them to Just Come Home, this can be spinned badly. People could say it would cause problems with troop focus and morale. If you want to send packs, do it on your own accord supporting the troops.

Throwing in politics makes it come off as bribery. Heck, the military would probably not allow the packages to reach the troops when screening them and would probably publically denounce it as would other candidates. It would marginilize and hurt Ron Paul's credibility and integrity to the general public.

Bad idea, but good intentions.

If you send a care package, send some Silly String, too.

The ground troops use it to spray in front of them to look for trip wires.

If we piggy back off of a Already established program it will not backfire. The Millitary encourage support from home.

The USO has a program that many companies has contributed to

I was watching Bill Oreilly a few days ago and who was blasting MoveOn.org for donating money to the USO for calling cards. He was upset because MoveOn.org created the General Betray Us newspaper ad. They "smeared" a high ranking general and now they are donating calling cards to the troops.

Of course, RP has never disrespected any military officers but he could get similar treatment by the MSM if his supporters donate calling cards as part of a political campaign.

Plus, people will use the calling cards but they dont really dont care about who sent the cards to them.

I'm in Afghanistan right now and I get care packages from all kinds of indivduals, businesses, charities, and churches. I'm grateful and thankful for the care packages and I usually right thank you letters back to the people. But am I going to convert to Christianity just because a church sent me a care package? Probably not!

Is someone going to vote for Ron Paul just because they have a calling card with his name on it, probably not. If they vote for him its going to be for their own reasons and beliefs.

We need the national campaign involved in this. They need to set up a meter on the official website showing the funding. It will also promote the RP website since other peeps outside the campaign will want to send funds for the troops. This is fantastic and leading from the front. WE REALLY SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

I'm waiting for the national campaign to do this. I'm ready to donate ASAP.

I feel you! Lots of people in the Army don't vote because they don't believe their votes will get counted. I worked as a volunteer on election day before I joined the Army. My voting district in Pennsylvania is pretty fair. So I know my vote counts.

But I tell soldiers to donate money to Ron Paul. Their vote may not count, but their definately does. I've donated over $1,000 to Ron Paul. That money has probably generated 25-50 or more votes. So even if my absentee ballot doesnt count. I still created 25-50 or more votes with my money. So I keep telling all my military buddies to donate money because its actually more powerful than their vote. And many have!

Please keep me posted on any new developments with the Stars and Stripes project. Since you probably wont get the Stars and Stripes Middle East Edition where you live, I can scan the ad in the newspaper and load it on the net so everyone can see that the ad was placed.

Please keep me posted!

Love this idea! - this is grassroots turf! - can we get someone around this?
I would immediatly contribute to this....DO NOT underestimate a soldier...they have lots of time to think...talk amongst themselves and write to family - there is no better venue...also families truly support soldiers, and want them home, when a soldier writes home and says: " I agree with Dr. Paul" - done deal!

STICKY PLEASE!!!!

P.S. great idea to the soldier in Afganistan! - stay up brother!

The ad could say the Ron Paul has recieved the most donations from the military. Because of that he would like to thank them by giving away free phone cards. That way it sounds more like a thank you and support for the troop then politicizing his cause.

We not only have a lot of time to think. But we have a lot of money to blow on deployments. I think thats part of the reason why the US Army is one of Ron Paul biggest donors on opensecrets.org. Soldiers spend their tax free deployment money on stupid shit because they have more moeny than they know what to do with and their bored out of the freakin mind. Thats why I've donated over a $1,000. I figure I take the military industrial complex's money and donate to RP who wants to fight against it.

Plus, a lot of soldiers think that Democrats are the ones who want to get them out of the Middle East. Most of them say they are either voting for Hilary or Obama. I mention Ron Paul to them and their still like "Ron Who?". Then I give them his foreign policy views, then I talk about personal liberty, no income tax, and internet freedom (soldiers love their porn, they even want to take it off military bases. A lot of them like gambling online with Poker Stars, so I tell them how RP fought against that). After that they are sold! I have 3 buddies donating money to RP on a regular consistent basis because I talked to them about him.

And yes, they do tell their parents and friends about him when I call home. I'm now starting to overhear people that I don't know talking to people on the phone about RP. It really is amazing!
