Has anyone seen any TV ads for Ron Paul? I live in the Pee Dee area and have relatives in the Charleston area and neither of us have seen a single TV ad for Ron. Are they playing any in the Greenville or Columbia area?

Other SC supporters have complained of this. Apparently... theya re airing NOTHING.
THIS is really what bothers me about HQ. Everything else they have done an OK job at, even with media appearances. But THIS is an utter failure - not running at least an ad here or there in some other pre super-tuesday states. Especially in one where its SO CLOSE and he has polled as high as 11% in SC!

I can confirm they are NOT airing television advertising in South Carolina.
Romney has aired them for at least 3 months now. Huckabee and Thompson have been airing them for about a month and a half now, and McCain has started this past week.
Paul is going to start.... well is advertising for him going to start?
I'm thinking its not. Its too late now, there would be no point and they can't buy tv airtime now.
The radio ads have slowed down tremendously since a few weeks ago, and the mail fliers have stopped as of a few weeks ago. The phone calls were mostly automated, illegal, and pissing people off, so those stopped two or three weeks after they started.
The campaign opened 3 offices in SC yes, but they did not open one in Horry County, one of the most important areas to win in SC, where again Romney, Huckabee, and Thompson all did.
Thompson, Huckabee, and Romney have visited SC 3x more than Paul at least.
The only campaiging left going on in SC is signs and talking, both grassroots level things.

The state coordinator tells us whatever we want to hear about SC. In October they said ads would start in the middle of november. In the start of november they said the end of november. The middle of november they said the start of december. The start of december they said after Christmas, and after that we said "If you're going to do something here in SC thats great, let us know how we can help if you're going to, but if not we're going ahead with what we're going to do without you."

Well we were trying to do better than 5th in Iowa over the past few weeks. That was the whole idea. Be a big surprise in Iowa and this whole thing would be completely different. That didn't come about.

That was one problem, choosing to campaign the hardest in NH and Iowa, when we had a serious, real chance to win SC unlike Iowa, and since SC is far more important than Iowa anyway.
This is why I have absolutely zero confidence in the campaign staff now. Its just one mistake after another mistake so far.

Actually, I am confident we are going to take 6th. The only one I believe we can beat is Hunter.

I don't think Romney is going to turn out that great down here. We see him as a two face lier! Thats coming from more than RP and MH supporters as well. If we get Ron Paul some recognition here I think he'll do well, and there are TONS of undecided voters. No one likes their choices....but most of those people don't know about Ron Paul. I've been trying to ease his ideas to my co-workers and friends....the message can sell itself....just get him known!!!

I hope we can get first in SC, all the GOP nominees since 1980 have won there, and our message sells well to true Southerners, after all true Southerners fought a war over a lot of what Ron Paul is saying.

mostly, the candidates ran out of money after losing SC. that's because they couldn't campaign and raise money efficiently because they couldn't be in two places at once. Now with the internet, candidates like Ron Paul can get 2nd, get momentum, and keep the money flowing. all while not having to take time from campaigning. the money comes in instantly and 24/7. they also then use the money for media ads in the many states at once.

Canvassing in the Ft Mill/Tega Cay area--Huck abunch ad nauseum, except about 25% that are considering RP. No ads today, a couple of people said that they had had a phone call or two. This is from about 200-250 canvassed today by over 20 people.
Oh yeah, the local coordinator for Romney didn't even have a sign in his yard or a bumper sticker on his car, two hours later--sign in yard......

I normally steer 100 miles clear of the ridiculous 'the campaign is incompetent' bullshit, but it's down to the wire and time for reality.
I've been to 7 events in South Carolina (not including my own personal work in that state) since May. Every one of them was organized and attended by other than South Carolinians BY MORE THAN HALF.
I wonder why no one has taken the Bo Thompson (decorated Vet) ad and the YT with Mia (the black woman from NC who kicks ass, IMHO) and asked Aravoth or someone else to build an ad and asked Llepard or Lord X, etc. to help put a newspaper ad campaign together, or started a fundraiser to plaster the state with regular local newspaper ads. or sponsor a free BBQ with guest speakers, or sponsored a parade in towns like Winnsboro, Chester, Union, etc., etc.
There is still time for grassroots to explode across SC with help from the entire 100k strong grassroots army, but they'll want to see a coherent plan and have constant work lined up for them as soon as they hit the streets and have housing, etc., etc.
Those who live in SC, get the towns on a grid. Plan events for each town for every day for the next week. Run ads in every local paper that herald the coming of the Ron Paul Revolution. Get the BLIMP a coherent flight schedule that's coordinated with your events. CANVASS!
Most people wait until now to make up their minds on who to vote for. In iowa, 17% waited UNTIL ELECTION DAY to decide. Take advantage of that and get moving now, or forever hold your piece.
The campaign has had it's hands full fighting the absolute absence of national media exposure. Ron has kept a pace that would cripple a normal man half his age. South Carolinians [except for the small handful of soldiers who know who they are and don't need mentioning] have done pretty much nothing except wait for someone else to do it for them so they can judge the effort as harshly as possible.
You get some solid ideas up NOW. There will be people there to help make them happen starting Wednesday, I guarantee it. Otherwise, take what you get and try to be quiet about it, will ya? All of this armchair quarterbacking isn't fair to those who are knocking on doors and planning events as we post and read, and it takes up too much valuable space in this forum right now.

Most of this is done or being worked on. Newspaper ads will probably be ready to be promoted and donated to by tonight if I have anything to do with it, and housing is good, look under the "Contact Information for volunteering in SC" thread. We have constant work lined up for volunteers, and we have SC mapped out as well. We have walk lists too. I will try emailing the blimp people today if there's a way to contact them on their site.
So the main thing is the main grassroots just needs to get behind us and volunteer and help coordinate with us.
