You didn't miss anything besides a golden opportunity to humanize Ron and get tons of free coverage/stories about Ron.

Because if the media had an open 30 minute question and answer session, these would be stories in Sunday's newspapers around the nation, make transparent the 50 years of marriage, it would refute the kook nonsense, she has great stories to tell - this would create tons of easy to write sound bites...

(you see the family members of all the other candidates and it softens and humanizes them)
