View Full Version : From Jefferson County (THANK BRIAN H)!
I've been enjoying all the notice my county has been getting on this forum and others since I got home tonight. I was really excited after the vote and a little disappointed to found out how the rest of my state voted when I got home.
I am not to thank for the support RP has here... you can thank Brian H, another forum member. I barely know him but he has a tiny little building right on the town square that he converted into Ron Paul central. I helped him lit drop a couple of times last week and he's a great guy. The irony of it all is that as I found out tonight, he's not even an eligible voter. It kinda made me a little sad because I also have a friend from the czech republic who sent out tons of emails to local RP supporters... they both did a lot more to help RP take Jefferson than I did, and I am proud of them and my whole county for giving RP one more small victory.
Thanks Brian!

Brian H helped in Davis County also. He sent me literature for my canvassers on very, very short notice when it was impossible to get it here in time from any other source.
A big thanks to Brian.

Even those who can't vote are perfectly welcome in the Revolution, and they can certainly campaign as much as any of us!

Wow that's pretty humbling to see so many thank-yous! Actually I did not do much - there is very solid core of Libertarians in this town and our County Ron Paul Chair Roger made sure Dr Paul made an early visit to Fairfield. I went to my first meetup meeting 2 months or so ago and was asked if I wanted to manage the meetup group - so I did. I am Canadian but just got my green card in the mail today.
There is a great post of points from our county chair here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=75172
I think though there's been a lot of comments about the small ads we bought - the real engine is networking with friends especially with e-mail. I never ever called our phone list of supporters. If they had no email we rather neglected them.
On managing meetups - I am VERY much in favor of UNMODERATED messaging - I am a member of 8 Iowa meetups and some of them moderate the messages and it really kills any life in this and attracts very little posts. I know sometimes people are rude or abusive put and others quickly jump on them - but that is a very small price to pay for liberty- free unmoderated discussion
I would encourage Meetups to be very creative to engage people with email which is well formatted and has interesting links youtubes and stories - send a digest every couple of days. Dont send every link to every news items as you find it - people do have lives and don't like too much information.

Great Work !
I think you are perfectly right. Ron Pauls message must be spread on the personal level, in a rational discussion. Chanting "Ron Paul" on the streets gives him attention, but it will not convince people. Only the personal one on one can do that. How about taking a laptop to back up your arguments with YouTube videos ?
