Many appreciate not having to drive in cold or bad weather;--- rural residents, senior citizens, single parents (others in the vehicle help keep an eye on the kids while the parent votes), students-- many of whom don't have cars. And what about New York City where MOST people don't have cars? Or Los Angeles, where driving anyplace is a nightmare? (Atlanta and Houston aren't very much better)
Democrats are really big on providing transportation to the polls. Not only do they make a blanket offer to anybody needing a ride, but they specifically target individuals and arrange a pick up time. It works; especially with less than rabid supporters who might otherwise blow it off and just sit in front of the tv. If they agree to a specific time they usually don't back out.
