For me it was about 10-11%

i thought with the higher turnout we could pull in at leat 15-20k votes. I was hoping we'd be running 20-25%

didn't see the Fred surge coming, am rather shocked by Mccains surge given his immigration stance.

This big turnout is a credit to Huckabee and Romney Campaigns for firing up the religious base.

Honestly 40%. But that's just being honest.

I was expecting at least 15% and optimistically 20%. I didn't see the Fred coming, either.

13-14% .....3rd place....honestly

tbh i wanted like 13-15% but if we can hit 11% when everything in counted i would be very very satisfied.

I was hoping for 18%. Don't know why but that was the number in my head.

I was looking more at # of votes...I was expecting 17+k

I figured around 14%, enough for 3rd place.

I was concerned about Thompson because we were polling right with him. I thought his support was overstated though.

McCain was polling ahead of us so I figured catching him would be tough but I didn't think he'd grab so many independents.

My thoughts were 14-15%, but all things considered, we did very well.

I expected 19% and less votes for Huck and Mittens. I expected them to be close in the mid to high 20's.

12-14% and a 3rd or 4th finish. But hey, such is life.

i'm still having a really hard time understanding how thompson beat us

MGreen

I was hoping 12%-15%, enough for a fourth or third place. But people really like McCain for some reason.

Yeah, I don't understand it either.

I think I said tie for 4th with Fred for 14% before. But I can't remember for sure.

15%

Thompson was a surprise for me.

12-14% and a 3rd or 4th finish. But hey, such is life.

My thinking was along those lines...

amazing that it would have just taken, what 3,000 more people to maybe place 3rd, oh well we cant beat ourselves up about it too much.

12% to 14%

I expected Fred's supporters to no-show and we'd get a close fourth. He'll be sitting at home soon enough, though.

4th place with a possible 5th place finish. I had no percentages. My rationale was that the polls still mean something. I predict 4th in NH and a steady increase after that until primary day.

Like many, I didn't see Fred coming but knew McCain had a surge. Paul didn't shill for Christian values which is where most of the votes went to.

12% +/- 1%.

20%, tying with Romney for 2nd or a very close third. I was very disappointed until I read that 70% of Republicans in Iowa still believe that George W. Bush is doing a great job as president.

I was hoping for a third place 16% with Romney and Huckabee in the 25-35% range.

10-18%; 3rd-5th place.

RevolutionSD

I was thinking 12-14% and finishing definitely ahead of Fred.

JMO

I was expecting about 15%. However I think 10% is optimistic. I was thinking we would get 3rd or 4th place, I really didn't think both Fred Thompson and John Mccain would beat us, I thought between those 2 and Rudy we would beat 2 of the 3.

Michael Landon
01-04-2008, 12:56 AM
I was thinking between 10-15% but I figured we would have been 3rd ahead of Guiliani, McCain and Thompson so I'm feeling good about our chances.

Was hoping for 15% or a third place finish. We did good, but not so good as meh had hoped.

The phone polls pretty much had Paul at 7%. To get 10% does show the distortion in the polls. I am confident for an even bigger surprise in 5 days...

My guess was 17%, based on the false hope the campaign gave the volunteers.
