Digging around through the Q2 fundraising numbers, one thing really stuck out. What organizations are listed as the top two employers behind those donating to the Ron Paul campaign? It’s the United states Army and Navy. Granted, Paul’s numbers don’t match up to the media appointed front runners in totals, but it shows that Paul’s message of a non-interventionist foreign policy is resonating as strongly with those tasked to defend our country as any other group.

Interestingly enough, if we look at cash-on-hand numbers (and then take into account accumulated debt), Ron Paul is 3rd among all announced candidates (as it’s almost certain Fred Thompson has a good chunk in the bank at this point). The news has been widely reported that Paul has more cash on hand than McCain, but when you take into account Romney’s debt, he sits with just $3.2 million to Paul’s $2.4 million.

Additionally, among those outside the “top tier”, here are the Q2 numbers available from the linked AP story:

Paul - $2,400,000
Brownback - $1,400,000
Huckabee - $763,617
Thompson - $461, 268
Of course these numbers don’t take into account the millions of dollars worth off effort the grass roots campaign has provided for the Texas congressman. If you haven’t already, search youtube for “Ron Paul” and you’ll see what I mean.
