I had an image burned into my mind that I had to get out. I finished it last night in time for Iowa caucus. The original is hi res enough to be printed at 24x36. I have two more planned for the Arming of Liberty series. I am probably going to do a signed and numbered series if anybody wants a large oil tinted canvas or hi quality poster PM me and I will gauge interest for doing a printing. I am also goig to get a canvas printed, hand tint it with oils and send to Dr Paul as a momento of the campaign. The idea was cribbed from a WWII poster. I think similar would be a good idea for the statue idea being tossed about. I should get that commission:D I already hold sculpture records for an Olympics install and for the largest free standing sculpture in the southeast ad have more statues on the streets of Atlanta than the next two artists combned.

Thanks guys. I like the star spangled liberty superhero thing with Dr Paul as the wise old Wizard in modern clothes stuff. I am going to do a couple more based on the neoclassical Liberty theme.. The next theme will be Liberty spearing the devil of the Tree Of Tyranny whilst Dr Paul nails The Constitution onto the Tree of Liberty with the Founding Fathers looking on.

As for the words on the sword. This is precisely why i will never do any artwork for the campaign on a committee basis. Michaelangelo threw the Pope off the scaffold for telling him to diaper Christ in The Last Judgement. I come from that school of dealing with critics.:D

I like strong women who can wield whatever version of a rolling pin they need for the job to get done:D Look at that sword. When cutting off the gnarly heads of Senator Porkbarrel, the snake of the Military Industrial evanagelical outreach ministry, the money changing counterfeiters and the accumulated aggregate of evil clowns and their mathematicans you need a good sword, with lots of heft, well balanced and honed to razors edge. It takes a strong arm to wield such a weapon.

Heh.. That is going to be a part of the symbols of the next painting. "Liberty Spears The Enemy". It will be alot more complex than just the scenario you described though.

I am going to look into costs for canvas with archival paints prints and as well for 18x24 and 24x36 100lb bookstock glossy and see what figures I come up with. I think a signed and numbered edition is the way for anybody that buys one to keep and retain its value..

Randy. That is spectacular and your timing is great! I have been in knots all morning anticipating the caucuses, but there is something that just seems so right about that picture, I take comfort in it.

Is there meaning in the color of Liberties red hair?

Cinema 4D for the sword and shield. Each layer is painted separately so you can reposition and tune the colors up. Other than that it is mostly the use of the Photoshop airbrush, the eraser tool and the smudge tool which give it the painterly pushing of colors around effect. For Dr paul I grabbed about 20 photos off the web for reference works to get the ear whorls and the most prominent wrinkles with his characteristics down pat..Unfortunately the image site I put it up at did their own thing with the colors. However it will now be easy to tell the difference between an "official" print from my mitts verses an up-resed version of the low res internet version, which is also unsigned.

More of my artworks are at these portfolio links, each with a different Flash interface..

It is a red scarf covering her head..signifying readiness to do battle in classic iconography. As well it is what is casting the reddish glow to the face. In 3D it would be a global illumination or radiosity effect affecting the subsurface scattering of the facial skin light.

Awww.....interesting. I did not know that. Somehow I missed Classic iconography in school. The only thing I remember from art classes was accidently burning my teacher with the soldering gun :o

eeesh no cuss words needed but, I was taking a suggestion from the other guy. sorry

The other guy was wrong and probably cannot draw Mickey Mouse:D When the arm is raised the inside of the triceps bulges. The arm is not a tube.

Look in the mirror and hold up your arm. If there is not the volume under and behind the biceps then get yer momma to cook you bigger portions of food. If there is a large bulge get yer momma to stop feeding you so much food..heh.. As well, take a good look at a well proportioned 5'11" female. Not some skinny ragdoll model but a healthy woman.

Yer welcome:) I am setting up a website over the weekend and a paypal. I am awaiting prices for canvas at 24x36 and 36x48 and am ordering 18x24 100lb bookstock glossy prints. I will put a post up and contact those interested once the site is ready to accept orders.

Thanks to all for the enthusiastic responses. I had stopped painting and was coding Flash for a few years and neglecting my primary artistic passion. I am going to switch careers (back to the original) and just paint star spangled neoclassical iconography. The jerks at Penn Group screwing me for 1000 bucks for a Flash contract :confused:gave me me impetus as well to get the fuck out of freelance contract work. So screw them.. I get my sons attorneys office NYC branch to collect and thank them for making a career shift easy to do:D
