Wanted to let everyone know about some new features that have just been added to the Ron Paul Library (http://www.ronpaullibrary.org).

Now contains more than 900 articles and speeches

The library now has more than 900 documents, which includes most all of Paul's newsletters and congressional speeches in the last 10 years. We also include relevant press releases as well as video for some speeches.

We have added a full-text search tool that allows you to search all documents.

The email alert feature allows you to sign-up and receive an email notice whenever Ron Paul releases a new article or speech. This typically happens once or twice a week.

Each of the 900 articles now has a Digg link, which allows you to post the article on Digg. There are currently about 40 Digg articles referencing the library.

This is one awesome website!! I send people there all the time when they ask about RP's stance on this or that...the last one was health care...very cool site and thanks for putting that together - very professional.

Thankyou very much for this.

Maybe after Ron Paul is president, he can be the first president to have an online presidential library :)

notice the guy who made ronpaullibrary -- perhaps the best single ron paul resource in existence -- has only 7 posts here. Using time effectively!

This is awesome.

Notice to any guests who may be semi-supporting another candidate, Ron Paul may be one of the only candidates for president that doesn't run away from his past speeches and votes, but embraces them! This great resource is definetly the first place to go to for knowledge on ron paul.

You're doing a great service to your country with this site, thank you.

The Ron Paul Library

I just realized a resource that is sorely missing and could be a great asset to this site (even thought it pushes the "library" theme a bit like the videos :)). The grassroots effort needs a good categorization of Dr. Paul's voting record pertaining to the different issues:

This sort of exists now in some form over here:
http://www.ontheissues.org/Ron_Paul.htm

But it is very misleading, for example under "Ron Paul on Free Trade" it implies that a NO vote on CAFTA is against free trade which is totally incorrect.

So there would have to be some brief justification for these, of course Dr. Paul often writes about these which is why it would be a great tie-in to the site (a Library of "votes"? :))

This would obviously be a massive task so it could be done by dealing with the major bills and ones he has written about and add as possible.

This site has the votes:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes.xpd?person=400311

If not done in the library some place else needs to do this... (I'm swamped! :D)

Thanks to all for the kind words of support. It makes all the blurry-eyed, late nights seem worth the effort.

Bryan: I agree it would be great to have some kind of concise statement from Paul on each of the issues listed on the front page of the library. I'm reluctant to use the ontheissues.org site for the reasons you state -- votes don't tell the whole story.

As you pointed out, just looking at voting records can easily misrepresent Paul's position on some issues. You need to explain what Paul's true position is and why he voted a particular way. As you suggest, and I agree, it would be inappropriate for the library to try and state Dr. Paul's position on anything. I think that text needs to be carefully worded and endorsed by Paul and his campaign.

We've tried to keep the library "pure-Paul," and have intentionally not included interviews, edited speeches, documentaries, general youtube videos, or other content produced by others, because it's too easy for Paul's message to be spun towards their own agenda (i.e. Alex Jones.) The library only includes content written by Paul, or transcripts of Paul's official speeches and statements.

Paul's campaign staff have told us they refer reporters to the library when they want background material on Paul's positions. We take that pretty seriously and are very careful to only include content that is directly from Ron Paul.

Perhaps as things progress there will be an official statement from Paul on more issues. If that happens, we will certainly include it in the library (the ronpaul2008.com issue pages are always the first link shown for any topic in the library.)

Hope that explains things.

Thanks again for all the support!
