Ernie Hancock from Arizona

from Boston.com

Paul's followers are a veritable rainbow coalition drawn from across the political spectrum. The most striking image from his campaign - the slogan "Revolution" with the letters "EVOL" reversed to spell "love" backward - is, to use a 1960s metaphor, more Beatles than Barry Goldwater. (The creator of this slogan, Arizona libertarian Ernie Hancock, explains in an online article that the "love" refers to love of liberty, but concedes that the visual was chosen mainly for its emotional impact.)

Ernie Hancock is the person who coined the slogan; but who created the logo?

It is a variation of an old logo Ernie used while running for office here. I think it is safe to say that he created the logo.

It was, I saw it last week on some old campaign material. It was the exact same Revolution logo.

I asked this question about a week or so ago here:

But it looks like you got your answer already. :)

Alright! I guess then Elijah's question is answered!

Blogging at rescue-us and submitting articles to my friends at Freedoms Phoenix introduced wonderful opportunities for active involvement supporting Ron Paul. Ernie Hancock came up with the "Ron Paul Revolution" slogan and a group of us in Phoenix started making signs and banners which quickly covered the Phoenix area.

http://www.ernesthancock.com/assets/images/StillVoting2.jpgThis is spooking me out with coincidences. Ron Paul's middle name is Ernest, and the V for Vendetta logo.

Ernie is one of the coolest people I've ever known. So humble in fact that when I spoke to him about his logo (which I have tattooed on my arm) he seemed almost shy about it, and said that a similar logo has been used many times in history, and that he didn't deserve all the attention over it.

here's his Facebook page, shoot him a message and ask him about it. :) https://www.facebook.com/ernest.hancock.31?fref=ts

Also didn't see that this thread was eleventy billion years old until someone pointed it out in chat earlier. :D

I have some info on this that predates Ernie's work. I was in Disney World sometime in 2008 and saw a guy with a "R3volution" on his t-shirt. I went up to him expecting him to be one of us and I was surprised to hear that he was wearing a shirt he designed for a Christian outreach he is a part of. He told me he had a normal "revolution" t-shirt on and when he looked in the mirror one time, the "Love" jumped out at him so he reversed those and had the shirts printed for the group. I wish I'd gotten contact info, but he claims he developed his logo for the outreach. It was almost exactly the same logo. Don't mean to step on Ernie's claim, but maybe these two people developed this idea separately.
