Would a recession help get RP elected?

Would people start listening to him about how the Fed is causing problem, how we cant afford the war, and how we need to legalize competing currencies?

I feel MSM is trying to keep the economy out of the discussion, I am hoping that in 2008 when the signs of recession really start to show people can no longer be fooled and have to talk about it.

Once it is the main issue we will see several candidates suddenly pretend this is a big concern to them, and this is where I hope Ron Paul will shine above the rest.

There are two sides of this coin.

Respecting voiced criticisms.
Respecting ideas of how to solve problems.

Ron Paul would get heard more in terms of his criticisms, but I'm not sure that translated into them liking all his policy solutions.
