In my home town we have one very large paper and one medium sized paper. Our large paper has been ignoring Ron Paul, so I figured I would appeal to the interest of our medium sized paper. Below is my letter directly to the editor urging her to print a full feature story about the Congressman. I am posting this so you can use it as a basic template and hopefully do the same thing in your area.

Ms. ####,
My name is Phillip Mabry. I was raised in San Antonio, but I
currently live in Manama, Bahrain working with the United States Navy.
I am writing you to bring to your attention a great story involving
Republican Presidential Candidate Congressman Ron Paul. If you are not
familiar with Congressman Ron Paul you can view his website at
www.ronpaul2008.com. The story is not a typical political fairy tale,
yet the story of a grassroots campaign that started in Phoenix and has
spread like wildfire across the nation. By the end of next week you
will see billboards around San Antonio (one across from the Alamo)
advertising Ron Paul. It is important to note that his popularity has
spread only via Internet and word of mouth. More importantly, his
billboards are being paid for by average citizens, not a big political
bureaucracy. I find this to be a refreshing movement in our usual
political hum-drum life.
His supporters are pouring in by the droves creating headquarters
in/for each major city to spread his message of peace and freedom. I
believe your readers will find a story like this particularly
interesting considering the largest volunteer group is in Austin,TX and
San Antonio Express News has yet to do a full feature. People are
really responding to Ron Paul and a large article covering his
views/popularity is a guaranteed success.
Interestingly enough, he will be having a fundraiser/rally in San
Antonio on July 28th where you can witness the support and excitement of
the Ron Paul 'Revolution.' I learned of Ron Paul a little over a month
ago and have been fascinated with his story ever since. While
conventional wisdom suggests that doesn't have a clear chance at
victory, many political scientists and statisticians feel his widely
accepted message is just too diverse to call (you can fact check this
with a Google search for "Ron Paul Can Win"). He very well may prove to
be THE upset of the last 150 years. I urge you to not dismiss this
candidate.
I am confident you can get an interview with Congressman Ron Paul if
requested. Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Phillip Mabry
