Now, caucus mania is sweeping the state again, leaving some voters to observe closely a process that they say is closed to them. In recent weeks, Nick Okland has taken orders from Senators Joseph Biden and Christopher Dodd at Centro, a sleek Italian restaurant in Des Moines. He would like to vote for Ron Paul, he said, but he is putting himself through college and needs the tips the busy night will generate.

"We wait on all of them and then we can't go caucus," he said.

Yep, copy and paste are pretty complicated things.

I guess that guy considers the tips from one night of work to be more worth his efforts than supporting Ron Paul. Oh well.

that makes no sense...how does them eating at his restaurant have anything to do with who he is voting for?

Chipin to give him the equivalent of what he would make in a night of tips?

Or tell him about tax free tips act? lol

Does anyone here know Nick Okland, for Pete's sake?

Let's donate the poor guy some money. What does he need, like $50?

Ron Paul is the only candidate who wants to stop taxing tips. What a short sighted moron this guy is.

The Italians are doing that on purpose to boost Giuliani's percentage total for when he comes in second.

So you can only vote at dinner time?

Can you only vote a certain time of day there? If so that is a really f*%$ed up primary. I find it hard to believe that that dude can't get off his ass and vote before his shift starts. Italian joints don't usually serve breakfast.

hello, children, wake up. this is a caucus event, not a primary. it starts at 7PM (local time to Iowa) SHARP. if youre early, youre ontime, if youre on-time youre late, and if youre late youre locked out.

A lot of servers cant see too far beyond an awesome night in tips because tips are how most of them survive. Younger people are more likely to blow off politics for other interests, especially ones that concern money.

hes not being forced to work, he simply cant say no to the proposition of the cash tips for that night.

As an Italian (well, 3/4ths) I can only hope you're joking. The Ghoul dishonors the race of Virgil, Dante, Constantine, Michelangelo, and most of our great Popes.

Poor Okland, how little does he understand. If his pocket's do not go empty tomorrow night, they will for many, many, many, years down the road....

The caucus begins at 8pm Eastern time. It's not a come and go whenever you want situation, from what I've read.
