I've seen a lot of video of the blimp and I can't tell how close you have to be in order to see the banner on the side. Does anyone know?

As long as there isn't sun glare bouncing off the sides of the blimp, you can see the banners clearly from about a mile or two away.

Can it actually be read from that one or two miles away?

I don't remember how close the Goodyear blimp had to be to read it, but I think you might be right about 1 or two miles.

Yes, you can definitely read it that far away if you're not staring into the sun. The blimp is 200 feet or so long - those letters aren't small.
