Ron Paul is on the ballot now / pending for most states. Here are some he is not though, so if you know the ballot process for any of these states post it here. Let's make sure there aren't any signature drives we need done:

Idaho (???)
Montana (???)
Nebraska (???)
New Mexico (???)
North Carolina (???)
Oregon (???)
South Dakota (signature state)
Vermont (???)

Guam
Northern Mariana Islands
Puerto Rico
American Samoa

I'm sure they're being taken care of, but it's always good to play it safe after some close calls.

Are you part of a meet up? If so, ask your meetup coordinator how he gets on the ballot. Some states it's paperwork, some states it's signatures, some it's others. Post back here with the answer, and post in the South Dakota forum too.

Either that or call your states GOP.

Why on earth are you sure? This has been one of the biggest weakness of the official campaign.

I didn't want people panicking as they tend to do on these forums. ;)

I've got no idea about the ballot access drive here in NC although I'm planning on being part of the delegation process.

North Carolina is much more libertarian then many states and we have one of the highest delegate totals of any state so its important he be on the ballot here even though we are so late in the process.

Ask your meet up organizer, if you are in a meet up group. Post back here. If the meet up organizer doesn't know, we'll know to worry. :D

it appears that 3,356 signatures are required for SD... i haven't heard anything about it from teh meetup groups. i think SD is last in the nation to vote, so the candidate will probably already be decided by then...

No state left behind. This is going to be a close one.

Now no notice from the meet up groups in a signature state is a bad sign. Think we should ask the head of the SD meet ups?

I'll try and figure something out ASAP. I do know NC has some of the strictest ballot access laws in the nation (while I was a member of the Libertarian party), but not sure how that deals with the major parties and candidates. I'll begin looking into it now.

No, we DO want people panicking--we need you and others to rile up everyone to counterbalance the, to be as polite as possible, "lack of urgency" of the official campaign.

Look at Ohio now scrambling still up against the deadline (still not sure if we'll make it in all CDs) when weeks/months ago I warned them not to trust the competence of McHugh and the official campaign on this and not to procrastinate and they (then) reassured me the official campaign was on top of it.

If Dr. Paul is not on the ballot in your state, PANIC! Take the initiative yourself. Post here for help. There are great people in the grassroots doing incredible work.

That's the signature submission deadline? Wow, that's late. Are you sure that isn't the primary date?

In the time preceding the deadline, organize your ballot petitioning drive, learn all of the rules (who can circulate, who can sign, etc.), train volunteers on how to get signatures, prepare lists of Paul supporters et al., plan the ballot signing parties to hit the ground running as soon as the deadline hits. Do NOT procrastinate. Do NOT wait for McHugh and the official campaign.

Here's NC info
Looks like the chair of each party submits the candidate names
or 10,000 signatures from the same party.

The list must be compromised of candidates whose candidacy is generally advocated and recognized in the news media throughout the United States or in North Carolina, unless any such candidate executes and files with the chair of the political party an affidavit stating without qualification that the candidate is not and does not intend to become a candidate for nomination in the North Carolina Presidential Preference Primary Election.

The State Board of Elections shall prepare and publish a list of the names of the presidential candidates submitted.

I'm pretty sure Vermont is done. They turned in the signatures on 12/24. At least, I got an email to that effect. If they didn't have enough signatures they should announce it.

Hopefully NC will put Paul on the ballot if he does well in the early states.

10,000 Republican Signatures would put a huge strain on the local meetup groups and campaign.

Oregon

· Presidential Primary Date: May 22, 2008

· A candidate may qualify to be placed on the Oregon ballot by one of two methods.

1. The Secretary of State may determine that the candidacy is generally advocated or recognized by the national news media.

2 By completing a nominating petition containing at least 5,000 signatures. This must include at least 1,000signatures from each of the 5 Oregon congressional districts.

· Filing Fee: N/A.

· Deadline: Filing period extends from Sept. 8, 2007 – March 7, 2008.

We may want to get the signatures to be on the safe side. If RP were to run "independent", we would be in trouble as anyone voting in a party primary could not sign a petition to add him to the ballot (see Nader 2004). From what I can tell, the primary should be a given based upon other states.

Can you post the email if you can find it? That way they can color it in the map on the other folder. :)
