DES MOINES, Iowa -- Peace protestors mixed with Ron Paul supporters prevented Huckabee from entering his Des Moines headquarters through the front door. Three people were arrested and then reporters were allowed back in to shoot footage of Huckabee glad-handing volunteers in his headquarters. This was immediately following his 2:00 p.m. ET new s conference.

Publicity.

Don't bother replying saying it's bad. I wish the blog post had bit more information. I hate those lazy bastards at MSNBC.

Huckabee was forced to abruptly end his press conference as the questioning of his motives by an amused press corps only seemed to build. He left the room in the Des Moines Marriott to do a drop-by visit of his campaign headquarters across the street. He was met there by a gaggle of Ron Paul supporters who surrounded the office and heckled the candidate for his support for the war in Iraq.

peace protesters?

It's sometimes difficult to tell where thr protesters end, and RP supporters begin in these crowds. There are some that belong to both groups, which is why you see them together many places. I'm not trying to say anything bad about any of them, but the tactics for the two groups are different and they need to maintain separation at these type of things.

I doubt any Ron Paul supporter was involved/arrested. Anyone who is actually a Ron Paul supporter would know better.

Until I see a picture of a person in a Ron Paul shirt with handcuffs, this can just be considered being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Trying explaining "this story is vague" to posters like these. (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showpost.php?p=763972&postcount=6)

Funny how they take the words of MSM. "If this all true of course....." So if MSNBC came out saying RP supporters were the problem, these people would jump the barrel and cause huge chaos in these forums calling names to all RP supporters when in reality they might be only 5-10 people involved in the incident.

This is how these kind of issues blow up right in our face and cause chaos in forums.

Hopefully that's not the case. We need to keep it cool in these forums.

For all we know they were peacefully protesting on the sidewalk out front, on public property, and the Huckabee goons called the cops to have them removed rather than walk around or through them.

Even though it's public property, it's his storefront, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is some law that allows them to be removed.

Or maybe they just refused to move to a designated "Free Speech Zone". We've heard that one before.

The fact of the matter is that we just don't know, so let's not jump to conclusions bashing our own people.

THAT is some funny stuff right there!!! The Huckster is melting down before our eyes.

The room of reporters actually laughed his press conference away. Oh man, I would have loved to see that. And then RP's supporters upstage him again. Although, I really doubt it was any of us that got arrested.

You guys fall for this every time. Remember that truther that called out Fred for being in the CFR? All she did was hop into a car with a Ron Paul bumpersticker. Even if these were RP supporters, so what? I'm sorry but who cares? Is preaching about it now after the fact going to accomplish anything at all? Nope, nor is concentrating on what other candidates are saying / doing.

They call this a presidential race, so let's think of it as a race. Have you ever seen a runner win a race by looking at the other runners? How about we look at the finish line and put all our effort into being in the lead when we reach it?

EXCELLENT!

Poor Huckster is having a bad day :(

Gets laughed at by the press for wanting them to give him free play of his hit ad on Romney and stalks off to HQ to find protesters.

That warm bath and razor blades is looking better and better :D

That is hilarious, Huckabee gives a hit ad to television stations to run, decides to take the high ground and pull the ads, then holds a press conference to show the ad? This is the beginning of the end of Huckabee, folks. And it'll probably just keep on getting weirder as his poll numbers slip and he acts out of desperation rather than good political strategy.

He'll do everything to hold on to his high poll status in IOWA and NH for the next few days.

Pfft. If that's all they need to fool you it'll be easy. Police routinely infiltrate protest groups to cause the disruptions. I doubt that's what happened here, but if Paul starts doing /really/ well, and things get too "hot" for the rulers, they will definitely resort to that. It is routine.

well, firstly, as someone who is there, let me explain what happened. about 30 student volunteers here at the iowa campaign office stepped outside to wave signs and chant about ron paul, and on the corner there were three anti-war protesters who tried to enter the huckabee office in front of about ten police officers and got arrested. we made the mistake of standing too close to the anti-war protestors who were in NO way affiliated with the campaign, and we'll likely pay for it slightly, but Huckabee's bus sped off before anyone was arrested, he simply left cuz he didnt want to be seen getting off his bus with ron paul signs everywhere. no one supporting RP or in any way associated with the campaign did anything improper.

Good News!

Local WHO TV basically just reported what we already know...that anti-war protesters were gathering outside of Huckabees office and tried to go in right in front of 10 cops, RP supporters were gathering across the street and promptly moved out when it all went down.

No blame on us!

Someone from the official campaign already posted here and told us no RP supporters were arrested... they are working with the networks to stop them from blaming us.
