View Full Version : What I e-mailed my Baptist sister about Huckabee

Matt Collins
12-31-2007, 10:46 AM
My sister is a stay at home Baptist mom who home schools; all of the stereotypes apply.

Huck was in town recently and she fwd me a message to her home schooler group of roughly 50 or so other like minded parents. Fortunately she isn't that bright and she "cc"d everyone on the list HA HA. So I promptly replied to her including everyone in that list hitting "reply to all"

Here is what I sent:

_______________________________________________
Hey Sister -

I hope you are not considering voting for Mike Huckabee?
If you are considering giving him your vote, I think there are some things you should know about him first...

Did you know that Huckabee lied about having a theology degree?

"Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told the Christian Broadcasting Network he had a theology degree, he told voters in Iowa he had a theology degree, he repeated the claim in last month's CNN YouTube debate ... but, his campaign now says, it was not true."
The article is here:
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59222#

As governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee aggressively pushed for the early release of a convicted rapist despite being warned by numerous women that the convict had sexually assaulted them or their family members, and would likely strike again. The convict went on to rape and murder at least one other woman.
Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/04/documents-expose-huckabee_n_75362.html

As governor, Huckabee was a tax-raiser to put till Clinton shame.
In this short video you can see Huckabee begging for a tax increase:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJW7nXw30A

Also troubling is Huckabee's support for illegal immigration.
As governor, he helped Arkansas serve as a magnet for illegal immigrants who wanted jobs in the Tyson chicken plants or in-state tuition rates unavailable to American citizens from neighboring states. And he also approved a Mexican consulate generously offered up to the Mexican government for free.

Here is a video of Huckabee begging for scholarships for illegal immigrants:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BxJBUswOcQ

The articles about Huckabee's pro-illegal immigration stance are here:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59047

and
http://www.arkansasnews.com/archive/2005/01/28/News/316347.html

A few weeks ago while on national TV Huckabee made a very sick and improper joke about suicide: "...I'd have to be sitting in a warm tub of water with razor blades in both hands..."
This is not a remark that someone who could be the next President should be joking about.
You can watch the video clip here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-2Sb7dFsvM

There are also many questionable ethics violations by Huckabee as governor:
http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=62EA31BE-3048-5C12-00E3B4881CA2FA0F

Here is an article that points out why Christians should beware of Huckabee
http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin411.htm

And also in Mathew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

I dont know if you still want to vote for Huckabee given the previous information which I hope you have read. I personally recommend voting for Ron Paul.

Ron Paul was an OB/GYN and is staunchly against abortion. He delivered over 4000 babies and never once performed an abortion.

You can see Ron Paul speaking at the National Right to Life convention here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXZpuIXEzWk

Pat Robertson practically endorses Ron Paul in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opEM8tKdOLM
(although for whatever reason he eventually went on to endorse Rudy a pro-abortion candidate).

Radio pastor Chuck Baldwin does indeed endorse Ron Paul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW_sp3Hymac

Check out:
http://www.christiansforronpaul.com/

You can also see Ron Paul's statement of faith:
http://www.covenantnews.com/ronpaul070721.htm

And Ron Paul is HUGE on home schooling and thinks the federal government needs to get OUT of education.
Check out these two pages for more information
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/home-schooling/
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/homeschoolers/

And in this brief speech Ron Paul says that giving power to parents is truly pro-education
http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=42

Anyway hopefully that will give you enough information to help you make an informed decision on who to consider voting for. If nothing else, try Googling for Ron Paul and see what responses come back, There are also other countless videos of Ron on YouTube etc.

Love ya much,

The 1797 Treaty of Tripoli approved by John Adams and passed UNANIMOUSLY by the US Senate:

Article 11 reads:

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Maybe she needs to get her fundie head out of the sand and wise up! Only ignorant fundies support Fuckabee! If you watched him campaign on C-SPAN you will notice every idiot that comes up to Fuckabee tells him they want him to "win America back for Christ" or some dumb shit like that!

First step first.......Ignorant people who vote for the "Godly" man who will "Win America for Christ" will never be convinced.

The best hope is to get them read the "Age of Reason" and get them to burn their book of fables........then with an open mind they may come around!

If I told you there was a big green monster in my closet, would you be able to reason with me? Or would you think I am too far gone in my delusions?

The problem is the Bible is farther out than a big green monster in my closet. The bible says Jesus will come back (still waiting) with "Feet of Fine Brass" and a "sword for a tongue"....

Delusional people are hard to convert. The only way for Ron Paul to win these people is if he starting saying "Praise the Lord" and started talking about baby Jesus.

Huck is gaining in Indiana too :( The good news is I stop his name whenever I hear it. Anyone who mentions him gets a list similar to Matt's. Since Indiana's primary isn't until May I don't push Dr Paul in most of my emails (I was getting hateful responses) but as a duty to my religion and my nation - I must stop Huckabee at all costs. My goal is to make all other candidates appear so disgusting that they're only left with Dr Paul as an option :D

Hi Macon I'm sorry you had to read comments you found rude. I trust you'll remember that Ron Paul is himself a committed Christian who just happens to believe that it isn't the job of the federal government to push religion (or, more likely much of the time, anti-religious propaganda). He's also the best shot for anyone who believes in home-schooling

I know I'll get flamed for it but I wish that users of this board who either love or hate religion would just put it aside for now - we're trying to elect the one guy who wants to just leave us alone to our own lives.

I know what will be said - it's freedom of speech. Well Ron Paul has freedom of speech but have you ever heard him insult anyone? Even when they lie about him on national TV he doesn't insult them or even used bad language. There should be no laws on speech but that doesn't mean we should forget our manners.

BTW - so any atheists don't feel they're being ganged up on, I myself am pretty irreligious and, although fascinated by faith, do not believe in the existence of God. I just wanted to remind that RP is standing up for all individuals - religious or not, to live by their own rules.

The inside scoop is--- it is a go for Ron Paul. I trust who I work with and know this is the right decision even though he has the electability issue. Sounds like we need to make our stand and hopefully he will go for third party push if he doesn't get the nod. Thanks for your patience as I sorted through all the various parts of information I have received and checked on the validity of his record and where the inside scoop was heading.

There have simply been too many lame jokes from this guy. How can people not see this? He jokes about suicide, he jokes about throwing snow on the driveways of non-supporters in Iowa on caucus day, and now he jokes about granting eternal life?

I *am* a home schooler. This will work:

Mention that Mike Huckabee was endorsed by the NEA

Mention Ron Paul wants to follow through on Reagan's promise
to abolish the Department of Education.

Religious homeschooler?

Huckabee promises to get rid of Roe v Wade in the same fashion that
EVERY Republican has tried and failed to do for 30 years.

Ron Paul has at least tried a different tact. A tact that his Republican Party
has obstructed. Congress, with a simple majority can remove abortion
from the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. ... I actually don't like that tactic
but it should convince many Pro Life voters.

That is perhaps the most perfect, non-threatening template email against huckabee.

Just put a call to action at the end to take a look at ron paul's record and his stance on the issues. And of course remind them that he's a christian.

Copy and paste this email to everyone you know. Now. DO IT!
Thanks for the vote of confidence...

Jason is probably a Huckabee supporter trying to make us look bad.

Probably? Probably? What do you mean 'probably'?

All the hard-core anti-evangelical posters DEFINITELY are.

Either that, or atheists are not the world's brightest people :D

You should have included the link to JudicialWatch.org and its article on the 10 most corrupt politicians. Huckabee has a nice write-up

Wow! That is a VERY useful resource.

I used this, thanks for writing such a good email! Also the judicialwatch.org link is wonderful as well. I sent it to my parents who are children's pastors at a church of a thousand and told them to forward it to as many as they could.

She's still reading the information. I'm going to make sure it's forwarded along tomorrow.

Huck is gaining in Indiana too The good news is I stop his name whenever I hear it. Anyone who mentions him gets a list similar to Matt's. Since Indiana's primary isn't until May I don't push Dr Paul in most of my emails (I was getting hateful responses) but as a duty to my religion and my nation - I must stop Huckabee at all costs. My goal is to make all other candidates appear so disgusting that they're only left with Dr Paul as an option

In other words, you will toment them like a mosquito!

Great email! Debunking Huckabee has gotten to be something of a pastime for me since so many people flock to him.

Something that disturbs me, other than his Constitution amending, was when he claimed that we would show Iran the gates of Hell. A little judgmental, to presume that God wants to damn Iran, isn't it? Does he presume to speak for God?

believe with all your heart and it will happen. For if God desires it, it will happen. You do not realize the tremendous power you have through your faith, power more than the angels. If you believe with all your heart and trust God in what you are praying for, it will happen; but you must believe, you must trust, and you must have unconditional faith.

:mad:I tried to use your magic red pill on this lady friend of mind. She seems to be close-minded person. I'm out. She doesn't want to believe what Huckie did to his people...

THIS IS WHAT SHE SAID TO ME:
I received your email. Not in agreement with it. I've
heard/read worst about Ron Paul, however, I don't believe
everything that I hear or read. I choose to find out the truth
for myself and I would suggest you do likewise. A little bit
of lies mixed with the truth is still a LIE. And what you sent
to me is truth mixed with lies---which is a LIE.

My mind is already made up about Mike Huckabee. I have
thoroughly checked him out and he is who I will vote for. I
guess you can say---it's Mike or no one for me.

Ask her what specific points are lies and to provide contrary evidence.
