View Full Version : $1mil in 2 hrs

Someone brought this up in another forum, but this has stuck in my head and the more I think about the more it makes sense.

At the next 2 hr long television event, i.e. debate, Ron Paul should mention at the beginning that without coordination he will ask his supporters to donate $1mil by the time the program is over. This of course to prove the strength of his supporters (phrase it differently of course.)

It would be a tiny money bomb, easily doable. The important significance of this is that it would be televised live, couldn't be dismissed and would get much press attention simply because of its stunt nature.

I think Dr. Paul should do it, just to make them all eat their polls. Another benefit would be that there would be much more attention on Dr. Paul through out the show, everyone inside the room and on television would be more interested in seeing if he can do it that what those other idiots have to say. I imagine there would be short updates on the progress, etc, etc..

We know that millions of RP supporters are watching this, we'd probably get a load of new donors too.

Interesting. Too bad I don't see ant televised eappearances for tomorrow. i guess I'll say now that I think our peak intake during the moneybombs stands at around 400k per hour. It would be impressive.

Yeah for scheduled in advance events that everyone knows has 24hrs to do it in. This would be something totally different. People would know they only have until 10pm EST to donate and many would jump. I could just imagine donation spikes after a war mongering answer or Dr. Paul being dissed.

The campaign would have to ensure that the server can handle the much greater load.

Seems risky.

It would also incite a lot more new donors who want to take part in it who are watching. :)

This is a very powerful idea. Don't let this die. Anyone who has contact with Ron Paul or his family, hit 'em up.

True, however the figure doesn't have to be 1 million.

It's a great number though.

Hey campaigns are good at taking money, that is their #1 priority. They can beef up there servers whatever it takes for the anticipated traffic.

I'd add this twist, do it as a challenge to all the other candidates, and not just simply a dollar amount, but challenge each candidate to see who could have the most $100 contributors in the next 24 hrs. Let's see who has the most contributors and raises the most money.

That would really make them eat their polls.

Also talk about return fire to their arguments that text-polls are spammed. That would be indisputable evidence of real people and we'd only have 22mil more to raise.

make it $25 instead of $100 -- that would be fun:)

I think this is an awesome idea. We could do it January 5th for the NH debates. During his introduction RP could issue the challenge to all the candidates on stage to see who can raise the most money during the debate.

Great idea. The $25 dollar donation competition challenge to the other candidates is good too. It would also highlight the fact that the other campaigns don't have the transparency that Ron Paul's does. It might even turn discussion toward the difference between a campaign that is financed by over a hundred of thousand of voters and a campaign that is financed by one crooked billionaire or a small handful of dirty lobbyists.

i bet they thought stting a 9 million goal this quarter was risky too...

id bet asking for a million would get him 5 or melt the computers doing the processing.

The Capstone for this idea:

He needs someone in the audience or back stage to signal to him when the total is reached so that he can interrupt and announce:

I would like to announce that during the course of this debate I have raised over one million dollars. Thank You, please continue.
