Raincoat/umbrella?

You will have even more of an impact if voters see you volunteering your Sunday to stump for Ron Paul IN THE RAIN!

If you have plastic signs, you can go park in a prominent spot at the mall or movie theatre and stick them in your car windows. Near the entrances where lots of people drive by is good. Heck, even park at Wal-mart. Then you can still advertise and stay well.

it's a conspiracy!!

neocons know they're losing so they use weather control tactics to stop you from making Ron Paul's name known. Just like they tried to tell you we landed on the moon!!!1:eek:

Rain? ha that's nothing, try scaling snow drifts taller than you and below zero temps. I was out for 3 hours doing that the other day. It shows passion and people respect that.

By the way are you actually knocking on doors or just dropping off materials? You should really talk to people, you get a very positive response that way.

Our meetups live in the wettest, yet greenest states - the Pacific NW. We canvass through rain, wind, freezing temperatures through sunset. People are impressed we come out in those conditions because it demonstrates commitment. We figured early on, the worse the weather, the better the impact. We carry our clipboard in shoulder bags and dress appropriately.

I use a simple script but let the dialogue flow freely. Have your materials ready (e.g. issues flier, slimjim and liberty biz cards w/ph # of RP on the issues). Knock. Hand the material to them and say

"Hi, I'm X, a volunteer here to give you information on presidential candidate Ron Paul."

They take the material.

"Have you decided who you will be voting this election cycle?"

If yes, "Great! (Can I ask) what you like about your candidate?" Let them answer, then respond with a RP solution.

If no, ask "(Can I ask) what issues facing the country are important to you?" Let them answer, then respond with a RP solution.

If undecided, "Most people are." Then ask them what issues are important. Let them answer, then respond with a RP solution.

If they show hesitance, ask them to look at the info and thank them. You can't convert everyone the first time.

If they show interest or are open to talking, engage them.

I listen for keywords and respond with computer burned DVD's of particular subjects during the conversation. I carry "A Man for all seasons" for the generally interested, "Pastor's Forum" for the family, pro-life, religious crowd, and the JBS "Overview of America" for the historically ignorant or inaccurate (e.g. socialists). I track data using our custom forms (http://files.meetup.com/546839/Canvas%20instructions%20and%20forms.pdf), usually after the conversation, but you can do it during if they are friendly.

Our primary goal is to find RP supporters, get them as delegates and plugged into the caucus. For them, I get their ph # and give them a meetup organizers info and/or biz card. Our secondary goal is to find possible supporters and follow up with a letter or phone call.

Its not the rain that's stopping you, its yourself. Now, get out there!
