Meet the press coming up shortly. Is anyone going to you tube the Huck?

It will be interesting to see how hard they are on him today.

It should be gruesome, but the real question is if any special interest sways Russert to let him off the hook. He's certainly got plenty of material to curb his ass with.

I get the feeling Russert isn't gonna be as hard on Huck as he was on the others. :(

Just that bad feeling....

Russert needs to grill him on the released murderers, tax hikes, soft immigration stance, and his love of big government. I also get a funny feeling that a deal was worked out that Russert would go a little easy on Huckabee in exchange for Huckabee appearing on the show. Why else would he appear and risk faltering like Giuliani?

If he doesn't cover some of the things, we are all aware of, he will only hurt himself.

He has to know all of us are going to be watching and will call him on it if he gives him a free ride.

Blasting Mitt, now grilling on his flip flop on immigration. Bush bunker mentality.

Tim was almost as tough on Huck as he was on Ron Paul.

Sarge
12-30-2007, 08:34 AM
Tim sold his sole.

Nothing like the grilling he gave Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul was hit with twice the questions at a much faster pace. Just my opinion.

Ron Paul was not even listed in the poll that MTP put up on the screen.

Is it really possible he is running 5th behind Fred, Rudy & McCain????

That is true - it did seem as though Tim gave Huck more time to answer each of the hits than he did RP.

softball interview.

The hard hitting questions? Huck's faith.

Ya - that is going to cause real harm in the republican party.

Nothing about taking gifts leaving as governor. Nothing about his son. Nothing about Pakistani's crossing our border in record numbers.

This was a feel good interview I'm afraid.

Yes, it comes on at different times all over the country depending on your television market. It runs LIVE in some markets at 9:00am.

this was basically no different than a Huckabee speech - he got to talk as much as he wanted, no hard hitting questions like Paul or Guiliani had to face.

heck, even I found myself under the spell of the Huckster - he IS a smooth speaker. I am angry.

i2ambler
12-30-2007, 09:50 AM
Yeah, I was amazed how easy Russert was on the guy. I mean, rediculous! Also, you could see Huckleberry winding his way through the truth - avoiding it at all costs. I.e.: He would get a quote thrown at him, and just wind his way around it changing , i mean "Clarifying", his statement. Please. What about a question on So, why did you steal the furniture from the govorners mansion? Why would you BAN smoking and "fatty food" nationally? Are you a closet socialist?

Watched the Huckabee interview and Russert was very, very soft on him. Most difficult challenges were probably inserting his faith into his platform and messing up the geography of Pakistan. Other than that, it was a cakewalk for Huckabee.

Obama's was pretty lenient, as well.

It wasn't the knock-out I was hoping for, but his appearance didn't help him at all. I don't agree that Tim was "soft" on him. He just didn't hit as hard as he did with RP.

LibertyEagle
12-30-2007, 10:13 AM
I'm watching it now and so far, it is complete SOFTBALL.

synthetic
12-30-2007, 10:27 AM
Huckabees been given 100's of millions in free air time to build him up to gain name recognition. Why would they turn on him on eve of Iowa and NH? Tossing him softballs was the only way this interview could have gone.

LibertyEagle
12-30-2007, 10:33 AM
It's over now. That was more like a PR opportunity for Huckabee, so that he could clarify some of his previous comments.

Nothing about his ethics violations. Nothing about his tax-hiking past. Softball on immigration. Nothing about him supporting the Dream Act and calling people who disagreed with amnesty as being xenophobes and racists. Nothing about Phyllis Schlafly saying he singlehandedly ruined conservatism in Arkansas. Nothing!

This is complete BS!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't watch and I'm certainly NOT shocked.

Question for you guys who are frequent watchers of MTP:

Y'all told me LAST WEEK that regular MTP viewers know Russert is a bulldog and his JOB is to be hard on the candidates.

Will regular MTP viewers realize that Huck was tossed softballs or not?

Just curious...

Huckabee got caught on an immigration flip flop but otherwise the prior posts are correct. Tim Russert was essentially giving a HJ to Huckabee under the table during the interview.

However, I am not surprised. The MSM has annointed Hillary Clinton to be President and they need the weakest GOP candidate to oppose her in the general election. The weakest GOP candidate is clearly Huckabee because he is a big government spender and is weak on immigration. Huckabee couldn't name the capital of Pakistan if his life depended on it. Huckabee will not have big money donors to compete with Hillary Clinton. Finally, Huckabee's conduct while Governor of Arkansas was so unethical that it actually levels the field for the Clintons on the ethics question.

If we don't propel Ron Paul to the GOP nomination, it looks like we can look at four, possibly eight, more years of this:

As frustrating as it is to see Huckabee get a pass on MTP, this isn't all bad. It's preferable for Huckabee to slow Romney before NH.

Never seen someone hold forth on so many conflicting ideas as Huckanut did on that show. He was a micro-flip-flopper. Flipping and flopping within the same statement.

He completely contradicted himself on immigration then ended by stating he stands by all his statements using his best "caring" preacher voice.

He's either an idiot and/or pure evil incarnate. That would explain why he's best buddies with Hagee.

Mitt is running the anti-mccain ones here in New Hampshire. I have seen a lot of them. But I think they are backfiring. No one believes Mitt Romney or McCain are tough on immigration.
