Here is the allegory.
Think of a dying patient. He has been diagnosed with a fatal heart disfunction, and his heart is expected to go out any time. Now, the hospital already has a heart, though it has yet to be tested for defects or other forms of illness. The patient now has two choices. He can either take the heart that the hospital can currently provide and risk it not being as good as one that the hospital could offer at a later date, or he could just wait around and hope that another heart appears before his soon to be death. Naturally, the patient will 9 times out of 10, pick the heart that the hospital can currently provide. The same thing holds true for the election. The campaign nedds money as quick as it can get it else risk losing the election. However, the option is always there to wait for another moneybomb, though it has no idea the amount of money that will be raised or how it will fare to then. IT is therefore necessary to donate now, rather than hold off till a future date.
