Here's a fun question: which political party is your favorite, based on its principles of government but not necessarily its members? At your leisure, be sure to explain why you believe this in your post reply, and if you choose "Other" in the poll, state the political party of your favor. Have fun!

1. Republican Party (http://www.gop.com/images/2004platform.pdf)

2. Democratic Party (http://www.democrats.org/pdfs/2004platform.pdf)

3. Constitution Party (http://www.constitutionparty.com/documents/2004CPPlatform.pdf)

4. Libertarian Party (http://www.lp.org/issues/printer_platform_all.shtml)

5. Green Party (http://www.gp.org/platform/2004/2004platform.pdf)

Put an option in there for "none." We ALL LOSE when we get into a partisan team-based support cycle. Go for ideas, not parties. Before you try to say that parties are founded upon ideas and helpful to organize around, just take a look at the republican and democratic parties.

Partisanship is just a euphamism for the chains of slavery.

The Libertarian and Republican party are exactly the same thing in core values...the only difference is that the Republican party has been taken over by religious conservatives and neo-conservatives that have changed the public definition of what conservatism really is...

So when it comes to values, I support the Republican and Libertarian parties.

The Libertarian party and the republican party (before the neo-cons and religious conseratives took that thing over).

I don't align with any particular party. I vote based on what I feel is best for our country. All the parties are just a way of trying to separate the government against itself in the "House of Representatives" and "Senate". With all of the party crap, nothing much can get done because of political views that someone supporting a bill is against one or another party when votes are taken.

Libertarian. Definately not a Republican, will switch my registration back right after the primaries. As a matter a fact, after the 2004 election I prayed for the ~50 million Republicans to all get ass-cancer and die in the most painful way imaginable!

And my support for Ron Paul is contingent on that he'll be running with the endorsement of the LP, if not I just may vote for the LP candidate. If I'm going to vote my conscience, why vote for a semi-pro-lifer! ;)

Where's the option for none? :)

I've always been Independent in mind and registration - I vote for the person, not the party.

However, having said that, I have only ever officially "joined" the national and state Lib parties and Libertarian is the usual title I pick because I agree with them more than either the Rs or Ds.

BUT, I was once asked by the County Chairman of the Republican Party where I used to live to run as a Republican for state rep and told that they would back me. It was a real request, not off-the-cuff, either. I got the call at home and I was asked to run and told the county R party would back me. I responded "But you KNOW I'm a libertarian, right?" She answered "I don't care. We want you." I didn't do it, but at least I know that I have some credental with a big party. :)

I consider myself a Democrat, but like the Libertarian Party better, because it lacks the scandals and Hillary affixation. I'm also an environmentalist, so I like the Green Party as well.

I thoroughly dislike political parties.

Yes, they have POLARIZED the entire Country!

Hypothetically... let's change the 2 party American Democracy to:

Fascist and Socialist Parties

now, would an Independent party do better? Of Course!

but truthfully... there shouldn't be any parties, unless it's held at a frat house

Cheers to all who, like me in my initial post, expressed a reasoned desire for "none." Parties are just a type of high stakes shell game. You only win by not playing.

I'm a Libertarian, but unlike some in the party, my principles are more important to me then the LP.

I don't really like political parties but if I had to chose I'd go with the Libertarian Party

yup. principle over party. If you don't have any principles, then why have a party in the first place? Why be in a party? A party of the unprincipled? no thanks. Parties are only useful because of the way the system is setup.

I am an Angry American,
I am an Independent Voter. I do not belong to any party, but I lean to the republican party.
I am also fairly Libertarian in my views.
I am a Ron Paul Republican.

Libertarian because I want the weight of that huge elephant and that overweight donkey off my back and out of my wallet.
