I nominate Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden

What do you think??

A snippet of lyrics from Track #2, "Declaration Day":

A desperate situation
Forced to retaliation
The task ahead a burden
Men will suffer, that's for certain
We'll charge into the fire
The cause, we must inspire
We raise our fists to tyranny
A high price, freedom is not free

The odds are stacked against us
But with our resolve relentless
And arrogance their weakness
Our cause is just, we won't be beaten
Upon this declaration
Will come a brand new nation
Where men are seen as equal
Governed for and by the people

CHORUS
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
For independence I will fight
For liberty I will defy
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
Give me liberty or give me death
I'll fight 'till my last breath

With virtue as our beacon
Our cause is charged as treason
Battle worn and starving
Through the hell of war we'll keep marching
The birth of our new nation
An act of desperation
We'll force King George down to his knees
Capitulation

CHORUS
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
For independence I will fight
For Liberty I will defy
So we make our stand and pray
On this declaration day
Give me liberty or give me death
I'll fight 'till my last death

The Glorious Burden is probably Iced Earth's best album. Good call.

I really wanted to nominate a Therion song, but they mostly sing about Dragon Rouge mythology.

Be Quick or Be Dead by Iron Maiden.

Covered in sinners and dripping
With gilt
Making you money from slime
And from filth
Parading your bellies in ivory towers
Investing our lives in your schemes
And your powers

You got to watch them - be quick
Or be dead
Snake eyes in heaven - the thief
In your head
Youve got to watch them - be quick
Or be dead
Snake eyes in heaven - the thief
In your head...
Be quick!
Or be dead!
Be quick!
Or be dead

See... whats ruling all our lives
See... whos pulling the strings...
I bet you wont fall on your face...
Your belly will hold you in place

The serpent is crawling inside of
Your ear
He says you must vote for what you
Want to hear
Dont matter whats wrong as long as youre
Alright
So pull yourself stupid and rob
Yourself blind

Therion's pretty cool. They tend to be more instrumentally-focused than lyrically-focused though, at least the older stuff that I'm familiar with off the top of my head.

It depends; they change their sound with each album. I haven't listened to anything that they made back when they were Death Metal, prior to Theli. If by "older" you mean ten years ago.

And even prior to ten years ago. :)
I've got a copy of 'Of Darkness' right here too.
I should grab some of their newer stuff, it is drastically different from what I've heard.

Use a Johnny Cash theme.

WWJCD?

You know what would Johnny Cash do?

Hmmm, which Cash song? "One piece at a time" is among my favorites, but I dunno if it'd work here (by the way, I have broad musical tastes...) :)
Maybe "Man in black" ? Or "The man comes around" if we want to be all subversively prophetic and appeal to the Christian base ?
