Ok, anyone suspect that Tucker Carlson is lurking on this forum?

Willie doesn't carry too much political clout anymore. He's great, but not as relevant today.

if he is, we should tell him what a nice interview that was.

Celebrities we need to enlist:

Willy Nelson
Warren Buffet
Bill Gates
Clint Eastwood
Penn Jilette
Tom Selleck
Dixie Chicks? (tryin to balance the list out with some estrogen :D )
Ben and Jerry
Donald Trump
Alan Greenspan

Yeah, and he's not exactly a Republican poster boy. ;) We need someone like Clint "make my day" Eastwood.

You got to be kidding? Farm Aid? The midwestern farmer? Iowa?

I agree his endorsement may not mount to a whole lot nationally, but to the midwestern farmer I'm not sure you could get a better person to motive those people to vote!

I'm not exactly sure exactly how the Midwestern farmer feels, but Willie definitely didn't add much to Kinky Friedman's gubernatorial campaign in Texas this past year.

We need to get Shotgun Willie Nelson on board!

The San Diego Ron Paul meetup group is going to the Willie Nelson concert (tomorrow, I believe) in a recruitment effort. Not sure how they are going about it, but I know its scheduled.

No way for the dixie chicks...... Get us MEGADETH, TED NUGENT, RUSH, METALICA, and throw in some "old" crooners for the actual voting public :-)

And some young whippersnappers ala.. linkin park, 311 for the more hip crowd.. me excluded of course.

That's not the same demographic. Plus, from what I understand Rick Perry was the appointed heir anyhow....so it would have took a lot more than just Willie Nelson to sink that bilderberg ship!

Ok, how about some women celeb endorsements? I was reaching and came up with the dixie chicks. Surely there must be some celebrity women that could help the campaign. There is Rachel, but I don't think she is famous enough yet. :D

The public disregard for Texas laws by Kinky and by Willie didn't help too much either. (bus load marijuana possession charges, open container in St. Patty's day parade, I voted for him though)

We first have to get him the Republican nomination, right? Republicans, even though they are, don't see themselves as liberals. Ben and Jerry are often referred to as such.

They are politically active self-made millionaire entrepreneurs. Most of their activism is oriented towards the environment.

I think a Ron Paul ice cream flavor would be a huge publicity win. Do you really think there are republicans that are so repelled by Ben and Jerry that they would reject Paul over an endorsement? I don't think voters that rabid about Ben and Jerry are in Paul's target audience anyway. People that nutty are probably going to follow some bible-thumping neocon warmonger to the bitter end.

*edit*

I just posted this suggestion to Ben and Jerry website:

Idea Type: Flavor
Idea Name: Paulapalooza
Description: I think Ben and Jerry should XcreateX a flavor that is a tribute to Ron Paul, a real American hero who should be the next President of the USA. This ice cream flavor should remind the eater of what makes America great: individual liberty, and limited constitutional government. I think pecan pie could be a good base flavor for conveying that message, but I'll leave such a decision up to the experts. ;) In closing, I'd just like to say thank you for many years of eating pleasure. I hope you continue to have great success.

Well Sean, there are a number of bible-thumpers, as you so eloquently put it, who are supporters of Dr. Paul. I would not recommend dissing them either, if you want Dr. Paul to win the nomination. They are quite influential in Republican politics and we should be going after their votes.

I know they offered to do a DVD promotional for the Libertarian Party... perhaps they would want to do one for Ron Paul too.

Penn has said on his radio show that he is an anarcho-capitalist. I'm sure he is well aware of Paul's campaign.

My hope is that a lot of these Hollywood types are lying in wait to come out strong for Paul when they think it will do the most good. Why they are still waiting, I do not know...

Well the beauty of Paul's position is bringing more power back to the individuals and the states. With this switch, those of a more socialist bent will be free to experiment and see what works.

Remember there is nothing in the Constitution that says once the Fed Gov stops taxing us that the states can't raise their rates. Some states would try universal healthcare etc. The experiments that work would probably be adopted by others. This needs to be pointed out to lefties who are hesitant to support him.

Frankly I don't think grand ideas like that would work, but hey America and americans should be free to try. (Of course I'd move if it happened in my state) ;-)

Need to get Bruce Willis and Kurt Russell.

Bright Eyes. Conor Oberst is extremely anti-big government and pro-freedom, and many of his lyrics exude Libertarian principles. He also created a song called "When the President Talks to God" and performed it on at least two Late Night Shows unashamedly. I'm sure he'd be willing to come out publicly for Paul if we could get him some information.

Any celebrity that isn't so polarizing is o.k. by me, Dixie Chicks, Rosie and the like are too polarizing, people seem to either love or hate them.

Bruce Willis has endorsed Fred Thompson.

Don't expect any "tough guy" from hollywood to endorse Dr. Paul. Sane foreign policy plays against the demographic.

nofx's song 'the plan' is about libertarian principles. they could be the catalyst in getting other punk bands on board.

i could see a lot of traditional country types getting on board as well. i think dwight yoakum and kinky friedman could easily get on board, they could bring others as well, especially willie. ron is a texan and that'll def be an asset.

i wish hunter s. thompson didn't end his life. he could have been on as well.

I hope he would support Paul. I love Penn & Teller and the Bullshit! show. Now, Penn has a pretty unfavorable view of religion, so that might come between them. I am an atheist too, but I feel just fine with Paul's views.
