I read that earlier today.

Her criteria for a candidate are that they have the experience of having been around washington a long time, and that they won't change anything too much.

Pretty cowardly of her, as she neither lists RP as "reasonable" or "unreasonable", avoiding the question altogether.

If she had categorized RP as "reasonable", then she would have "legitimized" him--which would have caused some blowback in her circles.

Still, she could not reasonably dismiss the (likely) highest fundraising GOP candidate this quarter as "unreasonable". Moreover, she has mentioned positive tidbits about him in the past (IIRC) so she would be contradicting herself. Also, she would have to deal with a bombardment of angry RP supporters and emails. :D

Glen Greenwald mentions her column in his column: (http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2007/12/28/noonan/index.html).

On a side note: a couple of his readers point out the irony of Noonan making light of Edwards "poofing" his hair, while she was a huge supporter and speechwriter for Reagan (known for his somewhat bouffant-y and colored hair).
