View Full Version : After I told Newsweak that I was boycotting them, I got this response!!!

I've been subscribed to Newsweak ezine for quite some time now
and pretty much the only thing I read are the headlines. Two weeks,
ago one of the headlines was interesting enough so I read the article
to see if Dr. Paul was mentioned... Of course, there was no mention
of our man Ron Paul.

So I emailed Newsweak and told them that I was publicly and actively
boycotting them, and that I requested that my clients and subscribers
do the same.

I went on to say that either they are uneducated journalists who didn't
know how to do research thus should be fired OR that they were biased
reporters. Either way, they were doing a great dissatisfaction to the
American people and I was going to do what I could to let everyone
know about it!

I didn't think much about it and I wasn't expecting a response, but a
week later I got a reply email. (I'm not at my laptop so this isn't a quote.)
The reply said something to the affect that they were sorry to hear that
and that they'd like me to reconsider the boycott. She (Patti) said to
keep a look out for the February 2008 Newsweak issue because Dr. Paul
would be on the front cover.

Let's wait and see, but either way, it's too late for me.

Hunter

p.s. The February Newsweak should be out in late January... just in
time for Super Tuesday.

As its name suggests, Newsweek is a weekly magazine.

For which week of the four in February will the cover feature Ron Paul?

Interesting timing. I guess the context of the picture will rely on how he does on feb 5th. (unless its before, which could be a big boost assuming it's not a hit piece)

While this certainly would be amazing, for some reason I have a feeling that the headline will be some "Blaming the U.S." bullsh*t

tell them to run print ads in their current issues or else you will end subscription and get a free photocopy of the article after february

also tell them you want the right to see a copy of the artcile BEFORE it is printed or esle you will END SUBCRIPTIOn NOW.

Guess the headline game:

1) Viable 3rd party candidate?
2.) How kooky is Ron Paul?
3.) How kooky are Ron Paul supporters?

Hm, if that's the case then It will probably be like edwards' recent "sleeper candidate" article, assuming RP has done really well in the jan primaries.

Either that or, if he does bad in january (heaven forbid), then it'll probably be something stupid like "the revolution is over." It is a liberal rag after all.

You all are missing the subtle but telling significance of this news. If they are planning to release a cover story on Ron Paul the last week in January, that means they are fairly confident that he will still be a player in the race at that time. It's the MSM admitting that he CAN win!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! I got that... they are already preparing for him to be a front runner
(as if he isn't already).

Now the question is, which angle are they going to take???
I'll see what I can do to get some info out of them and to
persuade the positive.

Just checking... the OP talked about "Newsweak eZine".
I would like to assume that is a wordplay on Newsweek Magazine.
Or is there a Newsweak eZine the OP was subscribed to? I found
several on the web...

Feb 2008 Headline Prediction, because this what they have already written, and its just ready to print the day after the NH primaries I bed:

"RON PAUL: FAILED."

Don't forget that news people write the news the way they want it to happen, often before it even does happen.

I've been looking through all the old magazine's of Newsweaks I have, and only found 2 articles. One desrcibed how he may win independents, but spent as much time talking about how Obama and Hillary are fighting for Independents in NH (they did include a picture of Dr. Paul though). The other article was just calling Ron Paul a conspiracy theorist and alarmist about his talk about the NAU at the CNN/Youtube debate.

This month in newsweek:

The internet-loving conspiracy theorists candidate, Ron Paul, who has raised a lot of money this quarter (including from some neo-nazis), believes the slave-freeing hero Abraham Lincoln disobeyed the constitution in declaring war against the slave-loving southern hicks. In this months issue we ask the congressman 'should you be in a mental asylum?'

Also, continuing our series of articles on American History, we take a look at the life of a true American hero, Abraham Lincoln, and why he is the best president the country has ever had in the entire history of the universe and then some, and why the civil war, like the war on terror, was the most justified war in history.

Uh, they don't decide things like this weeks in advance. Even if the email was sent and the sender believed it.

If you want to see what the article may be like, read Newsweek's Howard Fineman's hit pieces on RP available on their site. He also did a 4-part (or so) interview of RP. They rival Fox noise, disinfo, and banality.

The man who remade the campaign.
A retrospective on Paul's wild run and how it changed the game.

It will have a picture of Paul, a blimp, and a wad of cash.

It will be about... the internet I bet they're planning on running it one week after the results, assuming that he's going to drop out but, of course, leave his grassroots techno-legacy.

If this is even true, it'll either be a "holy shit, Ron Paul is winning!" issue or, far less likely ;), a "Ron Paul lost, will he now run third party?" issue. It won't be a smear, but isolationism will be mentioned and "libertarian" capitalized.

Remember John Stoessel did that big interview with Dr. Paul and they did not use it, except online? I think Stossel was just using Paul to drum up sales for his book.

Maybe we should all call the magazine and ask if the Ron Paul cover and article are still planned as we are only going to buy the issue if he is on the cover and the article is fair to him and his policy issues.
