Your local post office should also have voter registration forms. The post office by my house had them sitting out in the lobby.

Hey do you have more info on Ca? I don't live there but would like to forward information to some relatives and friends that do.

Is is a cuacus or primary? Open or closed? I get the 1/22 deadline for registration. When is the vote (Feb. 5th)?

I know it is a closed primary so you must be registered Republican.

Yes vote is February 5th. To be safe have them register Rebulican because California has a modified closed primary.

Modified Closed Primary System
California currently has a "modified" closed primary system. SB 28 (Ch. 898, Stats. 2000), relating to primary elections, was chaptered on September 29, 2000 and took effect on January 1, 2001. SB 28 implemented a "modified" closed primary system that permits unaffiliated ("decline to state") voters to participate in a primary election if authorized by an individual party's rules and duly noticed by the Secretary of State.

I'm a registered Independent, I think. Will I have to switch to GOP to vote for Ron in the primary?

In California yes.

You must be a registered Republican in California to vote in their primary.

Bump

Just completed the online form.....

Thank you for using the Secretary of State's on-line voter registration form. Within a week, you will receive a voter registration form in the mail with the information you have provided on this web site. Once you receive the form, review the information and make any necessary changes, then sign and date the form. Once it is completed, drop it in the mail -- it's postage paid.

You are not officially registered to vote until your form is received and accepted by your elections official. Tear off and keep the voter registration form receipt until you receive notification from your county elections official that you are registered to vote. Remember to mail your form right away. The completed form must be mailed 15 days before an election in order to be able to vote in that election.

Thank you for registering to vote. Remember you need to register to vote every time you move, change your name or change your party affiliation. Please remember to vote on Election Day.

Sorry, didn't see this until now.

The # for the San Francisco office is 415-554-4411.

Just give them your name and they'll look you up and check that you are registered Republican and all set.

We need a big push in California. I know Rudy has been on radio shows. We need to get Ron Paul on The John and Ken Show (KFI AM 640). They are a bit off the wall but they have a huge audience here in So. Cal. They discuss political issues all time on their show.

You guys, you don't need to wait that long. Go here:

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/english.pdf

Print out the election form, fill it out, and then mail it to your nearest voter registrar office. That's what I did a few weeks back for my mom.

I believe you can be registered as "decline to state" but you have to ask for a republican ballot.

I moved to Cali in October (from NY), so I have to go ahead and get my license (so I'll register at that time). Cali seems to have the better chance of a RP victory than NY.

You must be registered as a Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the California Primary!

Check your State out on the links below if you are not 100% positive. How it has worked in the past has no bearing on how it will work in this Primary.

A lot of people who thought they had changed their registration down here in Riverside and San Diego counties were surprised to discover, when they called their RoV that the change had not been recorded. If at all possible deliver your registration card directly to the RoV office. If you are doing a registration drive, do not just give out the cards. Have people fill them out and take them into the office yourself. If possible get some sort of receipt with the names of the people on it and have it signed by the person you deliver them to. You can prepare the receipt in advance from the cards you are holding.

Here's an example:

I, ______________________, hold the position of _________________in the office of the (Registrar of Voter/ County Clerk). I certify that I have accepted change of registration forms for the following individuals who wish to change their affiliation to the Republican party

[insert your list of names]

_________________________________ ________________________
Signature Date

Keep a copy of this and give your phone number to anyone whose registration form you collect. Tell them to call you if they are denied a Republican ballot on election day. If that happens fax your copy to the RoV and demand that they call the precinct and allow that person to vote.

Time is running out -- make sure you turn the form in in person. They take forever to mail it to you if you apply online. (I changed my registration last July, and it took weeks.)

You must register as Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the Feb. 5 California primary. Independents and declined-to-states will not be given a Republican ballot.

If you or someone you know who is a Ron Paul supporter and is not registered as Republican, it is imperative that you change your party registration immediately if not sooner. The deadline for party changes is Tuesday, Jan. 22.

I don't recommend registering to vote online. After you fill in your data, the registrar's office will mail you a hard copy for your signature which must be mailed back. This could result in a missed deadline!

Instead, go to your nearest post office (http://www.switchboard.com/usps.1355/dir/6_0/index.htm?mem=1355) and complete a readily available Voter Registration Form and mail it right there - postage paid. That alone is a 41 cent savings!

To double-check that you are registered Republican. Call your local registrar's office. See the list on our website of their numbers:
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/states/california/county-election-officials/

Then, get all your family and friends that are Ron Paul supporters to register as Republican. Bring them voter registration forms to fill out and mail it for them!
